  1. Definitely The Powerthirst Or Bloody Rabbi Or The Ho Brothers.(just kidding) Your choice. But seriously, you can pick your own name that you'll be satisfied with.
  2. Thanks. The reason I had that many notes on the staff was to make the chords deeper. Basically, with Notepad, since I can't mark dynamics or insert accelerandos or ritards (at least that I know of), I manipulated the score to make the playback sound like I wanted. I know it's not the right thing to do, but since I'm limited to this program that isn't worth what I paid to download it, I did what I could (in many places I used triplets to slow down the pace instead of the ritards I so badly wanted to use). So for now, disregard the score. @Mael: By the long breaks, do you mean the section at 0:31 and around 1:57, where no instrument plays? Or everywhere I don't have movement, like at :47 and 1:42? Any others?
  3. I've been writing this piece on-and-off for the past few weeks. It is about two minutes long, but packed with ideas (maybe too much at a time?). To try something different, I've taken a stab at a piano piece (not very experienced with composing for piano). I've heard that right-hand melody can get boring when they are only covering the underlying chords, so I tried my best to distribute the melody lines to remedy that. I did write an preliminary ending, but tbh it kinda sucks:(. Also the dynamics aren't competely done yet. But you can find out for yourself :P Any help is appreciated as I'm not sure where to go with it next. Odd Piano piece.mid Odd Piano piece.mus
  4. 40 views and no posts? Is it really that bad?
  5. This is one of my first pieces, the first I've deemed worthy to post here. Naturally, it is with the instrument I am most familiar with. It is written in roughly 3 parts of equal length- an introduction, a moving melody section, and a slower, more majestic (hopefully) section. My main area of concern is the transition in general, especially to the second part at around 0:52- I'm not exactly sure the best way to do so. Please help me here. I also have the key if anyone is interested. Sax quartet.mid Sax quartet.mus
  6. What is it written for? Is it written for 6 violins, 3 cellos, 1 drum set, 5 violas, 2 trumpets (merely an example- this would probably be a horrible score not even close to what it is). Basically, what quantity and type of instruments is it written for?
  7. If you're that intrigued, then read below
  8. I don't know, I got the PM, but I didn't understand the purpose... although the Buddhist thing had me wondering. Lol @ Nikolas
  9. Hmm, very good for a first piece. I wish my first piece was like this! Just curious- what's the instrumentation?
  10. Hmm, I didn't think it was that bad. At around 0:26, the transition to the next theme is a little rough, but not bad. You should definitely continue with this piece. I would add a countermelody to keep interest for the listener. The melody is fine for an exposition, but straight eighth notes will get boring after a while. Overall, your style is apparent in this piece, which is good. Stick to the changes you made in the last few measures; all thirty seconds of the piece are mostly building up tension. I would follow up with a fast, 16th note melody in a similar style to what you already have.
  11. Of course, all dynamics are relative. What is loud for one piece may be quiet for another. Usually mf is about as loud as a conversation you would hold with someone else. P corresponds to about a whisper. At least for middle range instruments-piccolos obviously don't have the sound capacity of a tuba. When you go off of this scale it doesn't really make sense to put more than fff or ppp, as the difference is really negligible.
