  1. I have to say the 9th. I like the 4th movement (as cliche as that is)....but I LOVE the 3rd movement, and the opening of the 1st, they are just so...AWESOME! :)
  2. At this point, I haven't finished listening to it as I actually have to head off. I haven't visited this site in a while due to study, but I would like to say, that I am so happy to have the first piece I have heard since coming back to be this one :) I personally found it, as much as I have listened at least, to be moving and I think it achieves those attributes that you desired. Well done, I truly loved it!!! I look forward to hearing the rest of it as soon as I can.
  3. Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted anything... This is a Trio for Piano and 2 violins that I have been working on, but it its not coming along very quickly... If anyone has any suggestions they would be most welcome. Also sorry that there is only a MIDI can't make PDF's right now. Thanks, Lex Lex 'Piano Trio No.1 (1st Movt.- Gion Shoja Bells).'.mid
  4. My first work written about 4 years ago... Not much I can really say, just sorta fiddling around with a few things. It's kinda embarrassing putting it up here but what the hell! ''Eclipse''.mid
  5. I play 3 instruments, violin, piano and viola...and I started them in that order. However, I consider the piano to be my primary instrument as I play it more often and have a teacher for it etc... Then the viola as that's what I play in my quartet and then my violin although I started it1st.
  6. Hey, I really enjoyed this. As has been pointed out, it does get a tad repetitive, but for a first composition I don't think it really matters, you can only get better. I hope you keep it up, I look forward to future pieces :) Lex.
  7. I knew he had a weird thumb, but I didn't know about the no connective tissue thing. Well you learn something new everyday!
  8. This is just my type of music, especially around 2:46, just beautiful. It's really quite poetic in its form...I love it! If you get it performed live you should try and get a recording, that would be awesome :) Lex
  9. Well from what I have read, Liszt had relatively small hands, and yet he is considered one of the greatest pianists ever. So reach isn't everything :)
  10. Hey all, Thanks for all the advice. I was referring to a sort of more traditional broadway orcehstra. Flint: Thanks alot for all that info, its much appreciated. And one day I might try an orchestra like that out of ''Into the Woods'' - it sounds interesting. thanks again, Lex
  11. Hey all, Lately I've had this urge to write some songs and stuff for a musical setting. (generally as just a bit of fun, nothing too serious) But I was wondering what the instrumentation of a pit orchestra is like. If anyone knows things like how many of each instrument there are that would be great. Also, any other helpful advice you may have for writing for this size orchestra. Thanks for any advice, will be much appreciated :) Lex
  12. At this current point in time, my favourite piece is Chopin's Ballade in G minor. I've decided to teach myself it over the christmas holidays... :S
  13. I tend to have lots of little works at once....but very few of them are ever at a standard that I could call them finished. So it's usually about 1 a month I guess. Lex
  14. I thought it was lovely, and definately deserves a 'Romance' title as John said. And all I can really say is that after that, I want to go finish the 2nd movement of my concerto :) Lex.
  15. My votes for Haydn
