  1. And there's a huge clue in this thread that QC has not listened to nor understood ANY of Punkititi's music considering the fact that QC continues to erroneously refer to Punkititi's music as 'baroque' even though most of it is classical yet I don't see you telling him to go listen to more of his music and understand it better. The hypocrisy and skewed partiality in this thread is comical.
  2. If it doesn't interest any of you, then may I ask what ALL 3 of you are doing in this thread? ...ouch. Owned much?
  3. Notice I too have never commented on either yours or flints music. Because I consider it mediocre pastiche of other tired 20th century composers. Let's be honest, all styles have been done before including that which you and flint utilize. Thus by definition YOUR style is also pastiche. You feel a slight STING when someone considers his music to be great yet you don't feel it is wrong for someone that is ADMITTEDLY not interested in said music to come into this thread and completely character assassinate Punkititi? You claim that if he can't defend himself that's his problem, yet the coward ran away and gave him no chance to defend himself because if you weren't paying attention he(Flint) expressly said that he will be putting him on IGNORE - thus obviously precluding any attempt of Punkititi's at defending himself and his music from the vile character assassination that Flint aspersed him with. If neither you or Flint are capable of composing TONALLY as well as Punkitititi and feel the need to enviously detract from his work that's fine, but you should all take your own advice and simply STAY OUT of threads that don't interest you in the same way that we tonal composers stay out of the threads of atonal works that don't interest us. If you, a grown man, have THAT much envy as to openly admit that you are unable to deal with other people praising someone's work then that I'm afraid to say is YOUR problem not Punkitititi's. It would do you well to learn some humility because let's be honest here for a second: if a CD containing your and Flint's atonal 20th century pastiches was being sold next to a CD containing Punkitititi's classical/baroque revivalist pieces then I guarantee 100% his CD would outsell you through the door because the vast majority of people in this world would rather listen to his music than to the tired atonal pastiches the likes of Flint composes, and THIS is why he receives so much praise. Maybe if you all would like an equal amount of praise you should study up on your counterpoint and tonal harmony and perhaps one day you too can be good enough to compose such works. Until then, please keep to your own atonal corner and leave us serious composers alone.
  4. Punkititi please ignore Flint-ww's desperate attempt at attention. It's obvious that he feels highly insecure about his own lack of composition skills and feels the need to vent his frustration at someone that he knows won't fire back. And to think that he's supposedly a 'moderator' (lol what a joke). It was one of the most comically desperate and puerile "critiques" I've ever read on here. It's sad that Flint-ww will never have the musical technique or talent that you possess. Did you hear his "oboe concerto?" It's not 1/10th as good as your "soulless pastiches" and it is in fact itself a soulless pastiche of long forgotten 20th century composers who no one cares about and no one goes to listen. At least if you're going to copy someone and write pastiches, why not copy composers everyone loves like those that Punkititi uses as inspirations, Flint-ww is a bitter mediocrity copying other mediocre 20th century hacks. His music is truly sad and so are his attempts to jealously deride your superior works. Keep on writing and don't let these 2-bit hacks and mediocrities get you down Punktiti, you have more talent and musical knowledge than someone like Flint-ww will ever have in his life.
  5. Sorry but this doesn't feel like battle music to me at all. You need a stronger rhythmic drive of some sort, i.e. faster tempo and things of that nature, this just sounded like random blues/jazz improvisations with electric guitar over a mellow beat.
  6. midi is a protocol. When people say midi sucks I think they are referring to the GM (GENERAL MIDI) SOUNDSET that most people associate to be used with the midi protocol. Obviously if you purchase a 1000$ program (like the omnisphere you suggested) then it's no longer using general midi sound banks but the sound samples that are in omnisphere. Of course no one is saying EWQL, VSL, SI samples sound bad, it's the GM sound sets that people usually consider bad even though I understand what you're saying, EWQL, VSL, SI, etc etc all use "midi" protocol if you compose with those sound libraries in a notation software rather than sequencer.
  7. I'm not saying you outright said it's not your site but the way you presented it seemed to imply that it was someone else's. No harm no foul though. Good site.
  8. Justin, you can at times be an annoyingly tactless poster, but I think this is a great and grand piece that deserves more attention. I think it tells a wonderful story and is very enjoyable to listen to not to mention demonstrates a huge skill and technique. It does often sound like everything from Tchaikovsky to Strauss to Brahms and I think that's a good thing. You've painted a broad canvas and while I agree with many comments regarding the length of the work, it's also YOUR 'canvas' and your world so you can do whatever you want with it. Length doesn't matter as long as your piece is telling a coherent story of sorts and I feel that yours does for a good amount of the time.
  9. I should note that I really like your personal site though, very professional, clean and effective. How much was it?? $$
  10. Well this is all great, the movie looks incredible and the music sounds fantastic but the problem is this is a music composition website and a major work (of music) section and you simply have no music to post because the only listenable music apparently is in the trailer of the movie. Since you are the composer, don't you have loose mp3's of the works or something we can listen to? Otherwise I can't justifiably see how this thread would belong here.
  11. WHAT?!?!?!?!?! I thought many of your pieces were baroque, I guess I was wrong. :sadtears: I don't understand why you say it is 'quite hard for [you]' as you are one of the most talented composers in this site, you should be able to do it. Well then again maybe I understand what you are saying, I want to be a member too but baroque seems to be harder for me to write than classical since classical seems to be more embedded into my heart. :(
  12. Yes Bach chorales are an invaluable resource into musical harmony and technique. They are considered the "Bible" of good voice leading, harmony, and counterpoint. Each chorale is relatively short and thus very convenient for working through a few of them every day and learning how Bach uses correct voice leading in his chords and proper counterpoint techniques.
  13. Wow, I thought it was an incredible piece. It had a sort of geometric and mathematical congruity and precision. It was one of the better pieces I've ever heard here.
  14. I thought it was awesome. Very catchy and riveting early theme, a bit of a lull but then towards the end it gets awesome again.
