  1. Well, then you should probably write for orchestra, becuase I have never seen a band without an alto sax, maybe without a tener and bari, but all symphonic bands have alto sax, so maybe you should just include a part for alto, but not for tener and bari. And, do you even not like the soprano???
  2. The way I write is that the main themes pops into my head all of a sudden, usually on the way to a class and i have to hurry and write it down when I get to class, but yeah, the main theme is usually in my head. Then, when I play that theme back in sibelius, I usually hear some counter melody and percussion parts go along with it. Everytime I try making up a melody on a piano, I just forget it 3 seconds later, so there is really no point to me.

  4. This is my first symphony, and second piece for orchestra, just fyi. Ok, so this symphony has 5 mov, Prelude Mov 1 Mov 2 Mov 3 Mov 4 Yes, very good names, I know. I originally had this as the prelude being mov 1, but then I found out that a symphony is not slow fast slow fast, but rather fast slow fast really fast, and so I went with the second one because I like it a lot better format. So, instead of letting the prelude go to waste, I made it a prelude. The prelude it just a nice slow piece, with melodies from the whole song just randomly intertwined. The first three mov are like a sonata, sort of, and the last mov is a recap of everything, with a bunch of original stuff in it. Hope you enjoy it. 5. This is very good. I would be interested to see how good of an arranger you are. You might want to try and taking some melodies in free domain and just going with them. Just a thought.
  6. How come you have no alto sax. The alto sax is a big part of concert bands, or atleast I think it is.
  7. Ok, so I fixed a lot of things in this, and here is the same show, except redone. Please comment. The score is messed up, only because I do have too many staffs. There should be two scores for this, a wind and a percussion one, but I did not want to bother with doing that yet. So, it would be best to view it in panorama in sibelius.
  8. First of all, the synth notation is correct. I don't know what else there would be. You can't really put free rythm because if a synth player does not know how to read music, then the band needs a new synth player. And, you have a point with the triplet patterns, but playing them as triplets is what seperates the good from the great.

    CDB Song

Yeah, the melody is based off of a summer camp song, so I can't change that, but the other stuff your talking about I had no idea I was doing. I just wrote what sounded good.

    CDB Song

This song is my summer camp song in 4 part harmony. Any comments would be nice, since this is my first dip into choral stuff.
  11. The instrument that sounds Jamican, which one is that. I love how you incoporate that instrument.
  12. Anyone?? I revised it a little, so here is the final piece.
  13. I thought it was great. Also, people who want to play it will work hours to get it clean just so they can play it, so don't worry about how hard it is, cause someone will be able to play. (Range is an exception)
  14. It sound like awesome background music, but you have to complete the ending. But, if you leave it like that, its elevator music, and without a proper ending, its nothing.
  15. Please listen to this one. It is a better recording.
