  1. Thanks for the feedback! I lean more to hearing a melody than being concerned about form (that is, I'm not very well educated in form) but it is something I'm really trying to learn more about and develop. Maybe I just went a little overboard with the "angular" concept =P. Being a brass player myself, I know some of the parts are challenging, but not exactly impossible.
  2. First attempts at writing some solo piano music, inspired by some Sonatinas I've been working on. Enjoy =] Little Song in G.MID Little Song in G minor.MID
  3. This is a new piece I just wrote, it's very exciting but really needs some polishing (don't worry my brass friends, there will be slurs in there). None the less very difficult music and rhythms, some harsh sounds and dissonance along with the "angular" timing figures gives it it's name. I'm fairly sure I'm done with the skeleton, but I might have some more work to do after I get some opinions so tell me what you think =]! Thanks! angles.MID
  4. There is also no "beam" tool to which I know. There might be a messy section but it's either because that's how I had to write it in the meter or I couldn't write it in another time signature (another missing feature of notepad). You people seem to be taking an attack at notepad almost personally...it's a handy play thing, yes, but I know no one here would personally choose to use it over, say, a full copy of finale.
  5. Lets see, I'm not going to get this played, it takes forever to use the tools not to mention there is no dynamic tool of which I know, and I've just written it down to get my musical idea across. If there was a point to editing it maybe I would have. Sorry it's too "poor" for you...maybe next time talk about my music and offer some constructive criticism. Thanks? Dylan
  6. The first of three parts, all based on tragedy. The score is really unprofessional...but...whatever because notepad is horrible. Until I can come up with a solid notation program to work with or I start getting pieces played, I'm not really going to be working with my scores. Thanks, Dylan. Mimesis.MID Mimesis.pdf
  7. I wasn't sure if I was going to use the synth, and I don't think I did, it didn't really fit and has that lame finale sound to it, so I left it out. Its a little short, but it was supposed to be played with other songs...that really didn't work out. Thought I would post it on its own anyways. Thanks for the comments :)!
  8. Hey, thanks for the comment. That was the one I entered, it was pretty bad though because I had to slow it down to make it three minutes :( which made it sound pretty awful. But I like this stuff, its got a good ambiance and some intensity. I think I used the same beat with the drumset in an indoor percussion piece that I wrote (its under chamber ensemble if you have a second) has a lot of action to it...I don't know if you have any other pieces to go along with this but good luck and keep it up!
  9. I'll have them up soon, I'm doing a download so my computer is pretty laggy and I don't want to run the risk of it crashing, and my scores will prove to be pretty lame for these pieces, but I will post them none-the-less.
  10. Reminds me a lot of a Pirate. I loved the snare stuff in The Maelstrom, it almost made me think of a Marching Band show, there is a lot of movement in there, I like the use of the tuba as well. I didn't really find a theme to hold on to, rather I just heard similar chord patterns being used. Although I'm rather new, welcome to YC and tell me what you think of some of my compositions if you have a chance, Dylan
  11. The lyrics are nice, and the tune is nice. Its dark and beautiful, reminds me of an old church with the roman architecture and stuff. around 2:50 stuck out where it has a sort of major resolve for a second. Over all I liked it, although I know nothing of choir.
  12. Ugh....midi, I hate it but I don't have any better options :(. Thanks for the reply =D!
  13. This one took me awhile, I'm very tired...thus the name of the piece, and the score needs a lot of work but I'm posting it on here because I need to get to it tomorrow! Night all, Skahead. I'm tired.MUS I'm tired.MID
  14. Whats up with no bass :(! Other than that I really like this, the chords are really nice near the end, and the rhythm is interesting and fresh. What else can I say, nice job =D!
  15. Another part of what should have been a four part movement. Once again, tell me what you think! Thanks, Dylan Chilling.MID Finale NotePad 2008 - [Chilling2].pdf
