  1. Just one more thing about the voicing. In the last measure you have the second tenors singing lower than the basses. There's no reason why that should be, in my opinion. I would have the tenors sing the D and the F and the baritone and bass sing the B and the A. The D sharp when the key is in B flat. Voicings are just weird
  2. The ideas of the songs are beautiful. But I don't really get all of it. The lyrics and the chords. There was one voicing thing in one of the movements. The high ''D'''for the sopranos. Such high notes aren't so common in choral music. I know you probably know all of that but... It just makes me nervous when I see all those ledger lines. Overall everything was really creative. The synthesizers and everything. Good Job!!
  3. I agree. The music matches the text.
  4. First of all you describe the song for a medium voice. You shouldn't have bothered because whatever voice type sings this song it'll be challenge. I believe the range was an A flat to an F sharp. That'd be hard for me to sing. As far as the accompaniment goes, I'm not much of a pianist but looking at the song from a psychological point of view and how it would affect a persons mood. I would have chosen something more flowing for those lyrics. *I will comment on the actual singing even though you didn't want anyone to. Despite the pitch I think you have a very fine voice. I appreciate the adeptness of your range and I personally think you sound better swelling into your higher register.* FYI.
  5. I... was honestly at a lost for words. You must be some sort of virtuoso or something because I don't know of any pianist who wouldn't look at the score and scoff. One thing about the voices. In measure 29, I think, the sopranos go from an F5 to a B3. That, to me, seemed a bit of extreme. I agree about the ending and the wanting to fade out... ???
  6. oh yeah here's the poem: Anonymous Go now my love, goodbye now, I know you’ve stayed too long, for The morning bell has rung, and It seems to me it’s day. Go now my love, goodbye now, So they will not find you In such sweet concealment As this place where we lie. Kiss me now, my sweetheart, Make it a swift parting, Look to your returning, With lovers’ loyalty, So through constant trials Our love may be new love And we’ll never meet with Wicked jealousy. Go now, my love, goodbye now, Go now from me swiftly, All your things are ready, I’ve arranged them so.
  7. I found this poem and thought it would be a good piece for one of my choral directors students to sing at competition. For a baritone w/ piano accompaniment. Its not finished. I also put the arrangement of happy birthday in there for my Granny's birthday. go look at them. Feedback would be appreciated. Finale 2009 - [Go Now My Love].pdf Finale 2009 - [Happy Birthday ).pdf
  8. aabaca.com not sure if thats the right sight but type it into the search bar and it'll probably correct is for you. I got Finale 2009 from that site for $219 even... no shipping, no tax or anything. from the time I ordered it form the time it got here was 6 days.
  9. Honestly... Well looking from this from a choral student's point of view, it's dreadful. From a the average choral director, a nightmare. But from a composer of choral music's eye, I appreciate the difficulty and abstraction of this piece but the text does get loss with the dissonance. The harmonies are good. Instead of getting the appreciation the song deserves it may be overlooked because you can't take everything in all at once due to the kinda of odd way its arranged, if you know what I mean...
  10. I was just irritated and confused. (gosh!)
  11. WHEN DOES THE UPDATED VERSION COME OUT? THE FINALE STORE SAYS NEXT WEEK BUT ACADEMICSUPERSTORE.COM ALL READY HAS IT IN STOCK.
  12. Parallel fifths smarallel smiths.... If it sounds good. It sounds good. I never follow the Major order of chord progressions when i write choral music or any music. Pshh... Music theory classes before college are great though.
  13. Which is better? I know that Sibelius is more expensive, but is it worth it?
  14. This song I wrote as a part of my audition for the composition program at the university. please give me your brutality honest opinions and feedback. ServiceMen.MUS
  15. Beatiful. The harmonies fit very nicely with the idea of the song. However much I like these type of songs arranged for choirs I think I prefer the soloist perform this sticking more to the melody.
