  1. Who would like to try making an 'electronic' song with me, as an experiment of working with someone else? (Each provides layers to add etc, starting of course with percussions/beats) No vocals, just instrumental. I make use of VST extensively and Acoustica Beatcrafts and Audacity. Let me know if you're interested!
  2. Well your music can come across as gloomy/melancholic if you're that type of person. Otherwise you can force personality into your music in an "I want to write something happy this time" manner. (just example) I've noticed that the music I make isn't very optimistic, and I only realise it afterwards. Although the theme/concept I base it all around these days isn't very happy (World War II, oppression etc) Otherwise I've clinical depression so I guess that can come across in my music. Your put out what sounds 'appealing' to you, based on your taste at that time
  3. If I had the time: 5: Atom Heart Mother Suite - Pink Floyd 4: Swords and Knives - Tears for Fears 3: Sweet Thunder (quite a symphonic song) - Yello 2: Mudmen - Pink Floyd 1: Echoes - Pink Floyd
  4. Is jy Afrikaans, Pieter?
  5. I haven't really been listening to classical music a lot lately. But classical isn't the only musical genre nor is it the archetypal genre. It's one of the earliest, yes. But anyway... Pop music. Rap music. Most modern rock. I like jazz but some of it just has no end. Etc. Very few specifics. Oh..Snow Patrol, Maroon 5 etc I don't get how they're so popular...
  6. I think that, whatever your knowledge based around composition, you'll still just be composing what "sounds good" to you. The trick comes in with being creative and original. Anyone can do D# - D - C ...but no it sounds good and applicable so why don't everyone just use it?...sigh... You're not necessarily limited to just the use of 12 notes over and over again...it's the creative use and combination and notation that makes it twinkly, pretty, silly, funny, sad, mad...or bad. I try to be creative but I know I just do what sounds nice to me LOL
  7. It actually sounds like something you would hear in a Halo game. I liked it. It does carry across the feeling of 'epic sadness' or a depression of sorts. It can take the stage as background music to genocide heh. Nicely done!
  8. The CONCEPT of Pink Floyd's "Division Bell" album changed my life; it got me out of eating disorder-habits as one change. It just change my overall view on things..everything. If you feel like learning more about it: The Division Bell Concept Other than that? Pink Floyd means a lot to me...I can easily say that the music has kept me alive. Not exaggerating- think what you want. (And no I don't mean "The Wall" or even "Dark Side of the Moon" but everything, in the literal meaning of the word. I love everything they did. I like "The Final Cut" less because that's pretty much just a solo album by Roger Waters with a 'guest appearance' by David Gilmour on the song "Not Now John".) Etc. I won't say that a piece of music in the classical genre has changed my life as I actually do not know a lot. I listen to what I've heard and liked.
  9. The movie annoyed me so much, I did not listen to the accompanying music...
  10. It is rather a small piece. I am write a concept album and this song is what 'takes' you to (for instance) from song A to B...It's like the little hidden letter between A and B. I know it does not make a lot of sense as is but I hope this gives a little more clarity. And this isn't the final mix, it's just the best sounding one so far lol. There is a still a drum part that I need to add at the end and I want to record the "solo" a little better, I wasn't playing at my best there. Thanks for the comment!
  11. Grrrr, I feel like stabbing something in the sternum. How difficult should it be to get competent hosting for free? (MediaFire works for me...it gives me download links and such pretty trinkets when I click on the link I supplied)
  12. Army of Two has pretty decent rock-style compositions that really go with dodging bullets and flanking turrets. I've always thought it would be interesting to make rock renditions of the Final Fantasy VIII soundtrack. (That's a game I'll still play :), even though I am an avid Xbox 360'er)
  13. What genre of music do you make use of?
  14. I started sorting out an ignorant piece I wrote for piano quite a while ago when I was clicking around on a crappy little MIDI sequencers, putting notes down etc and thinking it sounded good. I'm just organising it as it does sound good...LOL. Also doing sort of a quartet rendition of something I wrote a few months ago. (Originally as a rock-like song, it was written). Other than that...nothing much
