How about a simple (binary) sonata in baroque style using three voices? First part tonic to dominant, second part dominant to tonic. Would be fairly simple but would result in some interesting little pieces. Would show off people's skill in florid 3 part counterpoint.

Thanks. :P I just wanted to complain about someone not having a clue as to what creativity is. Nothing more! All is well.

The July 2012 Monthly Competition
I gotta say though... Treehugger giving me a 1/10 for creativity is a joke. And MaestroWick a 2/10... Lol... While I'm happy Austenite won, and would have given him the highest score, I gotta say, some of the judging was absolutely absurd. Again, I think treehugger's judging is a joke. BUT I'm glad the best piece won, in my opinion.

Congrats, Austenite, on finally getting that gold medal! And thanks to the judge that gave me the Morricone comparison.

Should there be a set number of variations, or can I do 30 variations, like Bach did on the Goldberg aria?

The July 2012 Monthly Competition
The whole violin, viola, cello, double bass thing threw me off. Took that as no wind instruments. All is well.

Morivou, ah, ok. You said: I thought that meant no winds or brasses.
