  1. Elizabeth - Well, it is an Étude so it takes a while to learn. I'm still struggling to play some of the right hand leaps. As for the ending, it stretches from m117 to m122, with the motif introduced at m114 "Bb Bb Gb D natural". The motive is repeated at every measure in different variations for 9 consecutive measures before coming to an end - which I think is pretty sufficient. However, you are not the first to say that the ending was abrupt so you may have a point!

  3. This is a study in hands overlapping and steep right hand leaps. P.S. Originally posted as Untitled in E-flat minor. I have created an mp3 and refined the score considerably - a change from NWC to Finale! mp3: http://www.box.net/shared/0p0yhfxei2 Finale 2008 - Étude.MUS.pdf
  4. Hey Andrei, this is my MUS file as requested. Thank you very much indeed. E-Flat Minor Direction.MUS
  5. Oh by the way I have it set to garritan, not sure if that matters...
  6. I'm using Finale 2008 and the human playback function does not work. However, when I do selective human playback - that is, only to certain staves, it works! Any solution to this weird problem?
  7. I just got my hands on Sonar and I'm trying out the truepiano soft synth on this piece. I must say I'm thoroughly impressed! Out of curiosity, which composers' influences do you hear from this piece?
  8. Hey! I just got my hands on Sonar! HAHAHA so excited. Just a quick question. When you edit the Finale MIDI in Sonar, do you keep the MIDI as simple as possible - without dynamics, articulation etc - and add dynamics and articulation in Sonar itself, or do you edit the MIDI in Sonar that already has dynamics and articulation inputs from Finale? P.S. My goal is of course to achieve as realistic a rendition as I can.
  9. Hmm I figured that I would have to import a midi file but when I play it on Sonar, there is activity in the meters but there was no sound! I then tried to apply soft synth and selected output as the soft synth but still no sound! Could it be a problem with my soundcard and if so how do I remedy it? Thank you for helping. I'm really frustrated.
  10. I'm new to Sonar, so I do not know much. I would like to import my noteworthy composer files to Sonar for its realistic "true piano" sounds. How do I do it? Would I have to convert the nwc files to midi first? And if so, does midi type 0 or type 1 matter?
  11. Okay that is really cool because it sounded so realistic. Anyway there are so many versions of Sonar. Which should I get? SONAR Home Studio 7, SONAR Home Studio 7 XL, SONAR 8.5 Studio Edition, SONAR 8.5 Producer Edition, and SONAR LE
  12. Did you play this or did a computer program play this? I don't understand what you mean by using Sonar to record. Is Sonar a program that plays scores from programs like Finale, nwc, etc or is it a program that records the sound of a digital keyboard that you play? I have been looking for a realistic playing program that will play a digital score - nwc, finale, etc. Do you have any suggestions?
  13. I'm from Singapore and this is my second composition. I haven't thought of a title yet but could use some suggestions. I do not study composing nor do I have a teacher. Could someone tell me where I should start - perhaps a beginner's guide to composing? Well, I hope you will enjoy it. Happy holidays Elijah E-Flat Minor.mid E-Flat Minor Variation Revised.pdf
  14. Thank you for taking your time to criticize and correct my mistakes. I understand that there are some unnatural transitions to modernity for the sake of following the Sonata Rondo form (e.g. ending it in the dominant in bar from bar 64-76). I must admit that I was too fickle to randomly transit between different styles, and it must have been awful for the listener! I am now trying my hands on more modern styles. However, I will still correct this piece and make it as prim and proper as possible. :)
