  1. Um, how about throwing the idea of a symphony out the window. Just write for whatever you want in a basic form. By your question it seems as though you haven't written a lot of music, so just WRITE instead of worrying about the technical aspects of a very expansive and difficult piece of music.
  2. Thanks for teh comment CO, I'm glad you liked it! I've always had problems with transitions, especially when it's crunch time, but thanks for the advice on that, I'll keep it in mind on future projects. Once again, thanks for the comment. It's always helpful to have feedback on extremely skilled composers as yourself. Vince
  3. There isn't a plan for continuation, mainly because this sort of thing isn't my cup of tea. I like the idea of 12-tone, but to me it's just more of an effect sort of thing I could incorporate instead of drawing out an entire piece from it. I agree it was lacking in variety, I'll keep your advice in mind if I decide to write another short piece of this nature. Thanks for listening man ;) Vince
  4. Mael: Thanks for the comment :) I agree I didn't explore as much as I should have, yet my deadline was pretty quick so I understand the flaws in it. It was kind of getting crunch time to where I had to figure out things pretty quickly, hence the flaws. Thanks again for teh review buddy, glad you liked it! Dark: I have no idea what you just said.
  5. Thanks for all the feedback guys :) It sounded kinda meh live, the piano player had a bit of trouble in the faster sections, but nevertheless sounded way better than Sib. I appriciate all of your input...thanks! Vince
  6. If you read the Lack of Faith thread, it's more or less teh same story. I really explored more with this one however. It's basically a piece with hardly any notes outside teh diminished scale. Some of the harmony was based on a matrix, where I plugged the scale in and out came rows :) I hope you enjoy this, it's my favorite out of the fresh batch. 7. This was one of 2 assignments that we had to write for piano, flute, and clarinet. I didn't know how to do this at teh time, but the key sig. is wrong, it's not D, there is no key. I now know how to get the atonal key sig. We had 3 weeks to work on this, it had to be 3-5 minutes long. The title came not from religious sources or anything like that, but rather personal ones. I tried and tried to make a simple theme work but it just wouldn't happen. I finally had an idea with piano and kind of ran with it for teh final 5 days of work lol. So in a sense the title refers to the inner self, having faith in yourself to succeed, especially when a time limit is given...and...yeah das bout it. 8. This is just a short little piece I wrote for an assignment. Nothing much to say really, the row is a Schoenberg row from...something. Enjoy! Vince 12 Tone.mp3 - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage 12 Tone.pdf
  9. Wow Nik, I've got to hand it to you. You continually prove yourself to stay as my favorite composer on this site! This was bloody fantastic! Awesome trumpet player too, as well as the piano :D. I'll edit this post when I have more time to listen since I'm stuck with very little time for this site right now, but I'll PM you when I do :) Great job man, and as always I look forward to hearing your latest works! Vince
  10. Dude....this is so SWEET! I think the ryhthm is just fine the way it is, from my scimming of previous posts. The electronic efforts were superb man. I don't have a lot of critique for this unfortunately because...um...I don't know where to start lol. However, I will say a sitar would have done justice better IMHO. Regardless, nice work man. It's good to see something different, especially something as cool as this :D Vince
  11. Ron, Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this one as much as the Mad Hatter piece. You probably know why, because I enjoy your dissonance much more! It was however very picturesque. I imagined hang gliding for some reason, although that's probably not what you had in mind. One thing that might suit this piece better if you are looking to add dissonance is when you have your chordal progressions, maybe keep some drone notes in there for some flavor. Keeping one or two notes constant in the midst of progressions is a nice touch, but if you like the way you have it then by all means keep it the way it is. As you know, I try and nitpick :D. If you would like, Stravinsky "jazzed" up old music in this way, I think it sounds cool. The middle section was probably my favorite with the ethnic vibes I got from the altered scales. The orchestral color was awesome as well. Keep posting music Ron, I'll PM you when I finally post something lol. Don't be afraid to PM me when yo upost new music as well, since I'm not on this site that much anymore. Best of luck! Vince
  12. Ron, I didn't read everyone's comments, so sorry if I repeat something. I really like this one, although I didn't picture the Mad Hatter as much. What I did like was you kept your unique style and continuously improve on it. Not just with this piece, but I mean in general. You're one of the lucky few in my opinion that have a certain personal voice, yet you gradually get better and better with each new composition. I enjoyed the chromatic cello line in the beginning, as well as the quirky rhythms in teh middle section. The cymbols reminded me of an ethnic flavor which I adore. One thing I would do, which if this is more incidental music then disregard, is that I feel you need more glue so to speak. I think your ideas are grand as always, but maybe some more coherent links between them will give this piece the gradification it desires and demands. Other then the small quibbles I try and pick from my donkey, you did a masterful job. On to your next piece I go! Vince

  14. For some reason I couldn't open the link. Perhaps a more universal mp3 site would do (box.net) and a post of the score.
  15. When a mp3 or midi is posted, PM me and I'll give it a listen. :) Vince
