Sibelius Sound Set Project Update - Sibelius 7 and More SIBELIUS 7 Compatibility I am very pleased to announce that the current versions of all sound sets are fully supported in Sibelius 7! Nearly all sound sets are Sibelius 7 ready meaning any files needed specifically for Sibelius 7 are available immediately. Several sound sets, including EWQLSO Play v3, Kontakt 4 and Stormdrum 2 v2 are not yet Sibelius 7 ready as other updates are pending. This does not mean that they will not work in Sibelius 7, only that you'll need to continue to work with the Sibelius 6 files when using Sibelius 7 for a short while longer. Here's some more info for those considering the upgrade based on common questions I've been receiving. Are the sound sets compatible with scores created using the v2.1 sound sets Yes, but you will need to import the V3 House Style and create instrument changes for your brass ensemble (6FH, 4TP, etc..) staffs and unpitched percussion staffs using the V3 instruments staffs. I have a custom playback configuration (that may use other PLAY titles) I used with v2.1, how do I use it with v3? The playback configurations will need to be rebuilt based on the v3 configurations. Instead of building these again manually, you can email me your custom configuration xml file and the corresponding folder and I'll switch it over to v3 for you. Do I have to uninstall the v2.1 sound set? No, it's recommended to keep the 2.1 sound set installed so all of your completed scores will not need to be converted. Are the drum maps different, will I have to change the way parts are notated? The on-the-staff mapping is identical to the 2.1 sound set. There are changes in sound ID's and other things in the sound set but you will not need to re-notate anything, just perform the instrument changes. Hi John, Yes, LASS can be used in a DAW. The Sibelius Instruments have been re-programmed as there were many things in the library not compatible with Sibelius out-of-the-box but that doesn't exclude them from being used in a DAW either. Unless you're a Sibelius user though there's not much point in working with the Sibelius instruments - the standard patches will suit your needs just fine.
