  1. That's how you get better. That's why the New York Phil makes the big bucks.
  2. Study theory, counterpoint etc, hone your technique blahblah, aaaaaaaand score study
  3. Jimmy Eat World isn't good. Keep your generic proletariat white people music off my forum, please.
  4. Cry about it
  5. yes, t = 10 e = 11 Interesting, what's used in Europe?
  6. 10 would be "t", it's all good Hmm, 2 major thirds, and you get that tritone separation. Spicy, I like.
  7. I think this makes more sense than "favorite key", since chordal sonorities can be expressed in sets anyway. Mine is... [0 1 6]
  8. Actually, now that I think about it...let me list off all of the instruments I CAN play... Piano -If I can play piano, I can also play Ondes Martenot, harpsichord and others Guitar -If I can play guitar, that means I can also play mandolin and banjo Trombone -If I can play trombone, I can play all forms of it Trumpet -If I can play trumpet, I can play fluglehorn, piccolo, and other forms of trumpet Euphonium Tuba All forms of percussion I play 20+ instruments
  9. I was not back pedaling, I was admitting there was a hole in my argument.
  10. I play one instrument, and I'm very good at it. I can also "play", the piano, but I "play" the piano like I'm able to "read" French. Sure I can "read" French, but that doesn't mean I have any business becoming a "French" translator.
  11. Someone has caught the hole in my argument, congrats SCC
  12. I LIKE THIS! Very daring with the texture. This is what music is about, these sorts of soundscapes. I appreciate the treatment of tonality, and what keeps it fresh is how you approach textures, letting lines dissolve into the next, creating a constant sense of forward energy. Great job Daniel For the record, I am a brass player, but I hear nothing that should be a problem.
  13. Was it really? I just don't find that believable unless you are from Germany and live in the 19th century. however, if this is an older piece and not representative of what you write now, I totally get that. Can you link me to a recent piece of yours? By the way, I by no means am saying that this piano concerto is bad (by the way, ARE you German? I'm assuming so because of the German title).
  14. Why do you write in such an ancient European style? It's the *style* that bothers me, it just doesn't seem genuine.
