  1. I hope someone hasn't already done this. Anyway, they were all composed in the summer of 1775 (we think 1 might've been composed in '73), so there isn't an enormous amount of stylistic evolution, but I'm curious as to what people's preferences are, seeing as they're really brilliant concerti.
  2. Make sure the conductor has a magnefying glass with him. Lovely though the piece is, it's just impossible to read with that many staves, unless you blow it up to 11x17, or something. Also, what's with all the empty measures appending the piece?
  3. I'm hardly a late German Romanticism (and Post-Romanticism) aficionado. But just as Mozart, though brilliant, was hardly as innovative in opera, the string quartet, and the symphony as some contemporaries (Gluck, Haydn, and Beethoven, respectively, though the last a tad unfairly), I'm curious as to how innovative (harmonically as well as orchestrally) we consider Mahler to have been.
  4. Is the /me code really this difficult to restore?
  5. *ahem* I remain unfulfilled by the Shoutbox.
  6. Excellent work on the design! EDIT: Let me qualify that by saying the banner continues to need serious work, and something needs to be done about the thing under one's user title reading: "Icon".
  7. I think the impression of christmas stems from the red treble clef in the logo that's surrounded by the successively wider rings, suggesting tree-ness.
  8. I find the treble clefs behind the 'fast reply' and navigation bar extremely kitsch and gaudy. In a cringe-worthy way. Almost as though they're a bad Christmas decoration that will come thankfully down on New Year's.
  9. Seconded. I in no way meant to demean the spectacular initiative you're spearheading, chopin, nor the substantial efforts of Hillary and James. Indeed, having just finished finals, I almost wish there were some way in which I could contribute...pity I don't know a word of any code of any sort.
  10. I lol'd at this. A thing is either custom or it isn't. This isn't quite as bad as if you'd said YC were 'very unique' -- a thing is either the only one of its kind or it isn't -- but you might investigate getting someone with a solid English background involved in your PR (and Mike doesn't count, because there's no comma between "solid" and "English"). But I can't affirm strongly enough that a bad -- or even unfamiliar -- aesthetic is extremely detrimental to one's perception of a site. I recognize it's superficial and not nearly as relevant as making sure the bugs are fixed (of which I've experienced at least two), but it screams at one more persistently even than do bugs, if less caustically. All I can say is that I hope Hilary et al work quickly, because I don't much care for this new design at all. And the banner is an absolute trainwreck. Again, I'm fully aware of your position, and understand the migraine this transition must be for you. And I respect you for your desire to improve YC. Finally, I'm slightly irritated by the change in coding for quoting someone. Instead of [ quote = yo momma ] and [ / quote ], we have to type twice as many characters, and make sure the apostrophes are all properly placed, and so on. It's not a huge deal, but it's a changing of habit, and if you/mike could find a way to get the old, simple code back and impose it on the quoting-action, I would be very much grateful.
  11. I was experimenting in off topic, and apparently you can't delete posts with IPB (you can still edit such that content is removed, which essentially amounts to the same thing). Why is this the case? Is there a reason deleting has been disabled? Is enabling it a difficult process?
  12. Update: /me remains unfixed. Please fix it?
