  1. I respect your beliefs but I can't believe a kind God would also be so touchy. don't make him into a Grumpy Old Dad.
  2. I'd prefer orchestral instruments to electric ones..
  3. I'm still looking for a composer with a strong melodic sense for these. No ambitious takers?
  4. Well Doc, I appreciate your advice and sentiments.. but I have in fact listened to many compositions here and contacted a few composers. One or two were interested but have no time at the moment. Another said he will perhaps concoct something. There are a lot of perhapses in life. So, as I'd like something by May I have to attempt composer contacts in a variety of ways. What you suggest is ideal.. if I want to spread the process out over several years.
  5. Hi, Alvise, Great samples on MySpace.. congratulations. Send me a synopsis of your musical. I'm very curious to know the plot. (One of your overtures has a sound similar to what I'm looking for my Christmas song.) all the best, Dex
  6. Anyone who wants to give it a go is welcome. Let me explain what I hope for most; a jolly sprightly memorable melody that can be whistled and hummed. (Think of Sleigh Ride or Joy to the World.) A lot to ask for I know, especially given the limiting cadence of the words. Yes, the words can be changed somewhat, lines shortened. As for the form, I'm mainly interested in a melody and perhaps an arrangement. The singing or performance is secondary as most composers are not necessarily performers. I'd like to have something by April.
  7. As mentioned elsewhere on this site - Composers of evergreen X-mas tunes become filthy rich from radio royalties. I need a composer to set music to these lyrics, for something we have all longed for: A post Christmas tune to be played incessantly the week after the Yuletide. Set these words to music and e-mail me the resulting sound file. Remember to give it a melodic and Christmasy feel (sleighbells? the more clich
  8. Thanks, J. Lee.. that's quite a compliment, as it comes from a real musician.
  9. Great fun... and don't take this in the wrong way.. this short piece would make a fantastic ring tone. Optimistic!
  10. It may be blues but it has a lot of personality and joy.. great stuff!
  11. Here's a love song for the cynical.. (Hubris is the same as talent, isn't it?)
  12. Irving Berlin wrote timeless melodies, George Gershwin, too.. Lennon & McCartney. The musicality of "Sleigh Bells" or "Oh, Holy Night" is unquestionable. A true artist can write a dog food jingle that can contribute to our common happiness.
  13. The idea, of course is to share 50-50 on the earnings of such a composition. Wouldn't it be a thrill to hear your song played just after Christmas... every Christmas?!?
