Operetta "P.S. Who Are You?" excerpts thread
alvise_zambon replied to M. Bulteau's topic in Choral, Vocal
i think that the "thank you" melody it's a little to much repetitive... not too bad, however... it sounds more like a mozart piece, then a strauss... -
oh, wow... that's great, guy... i mean, the Tokio Orchestra... such a great thing... oh, well, if it's for a chamber orchestra, yes, it's big... You have a great luck, no one would to performe my music, i mean, the music i make on my own outside the ambience of the conservatory where i study experimental composition... i would like to write a smash hit broadway musical, but here in italy, in our very traditional schools, if you tell around that you have written such a thing they look at you as a monster... even if i pray in different ways and different gods, the conservatory orchestra will never perform one of my pieces, one of my songs, one of my overtures...

i don't know if this one is a really large ensamble... yes if you think about rock bands, this is a larger ensamble.... i'm a bit traditional, but usually if i have to write something for a big ensamble, i use something like this Piccolo 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 1 Core Anglais 2 Clarinets 1 Bass Clarinets 2 Bassons 4 Horns 4 Trumpets 4 Trombones Percussions I-II-III 2 Electric Guitars Electric Bass 3 Keyboards 3 Vocals in the orchestra Pit Violins I Violins II Violas Cellos Doublebasses i've used this ensamble also for pop-rock stuff... or, if you want to have a minus number of musicians and a larger possibility of instruments, you can use the classical broadway orchestra, like this REED I Flute/Clarinets/Saxophones REED II Oboe/Core Anglais REED III Flute/Clarinets/Saxophones REED IV Flutes/Clarinets/Saxophones REED V Basson 1 Horn 2 Trumpets 1 Trombone Percussions I-II Guitar/Mandoli/Electric Guitar Keyboard I Keyboard II Keyboard III/CONDUCTOR Double Bass/Electric Bass the last one is very usefull... if you want you can add also a quintet of strings, for example 3 violins and 2 cellos, that's not bad..

Fuga a tre voci in Do minore (C minor)
alvise_zambon replied to alvise_zambon's topic in Piano Music, Solo Keyboard
that's just a little game i made... no intention to do a great think... i don't study fugue yet, i'm still at the Bach Chorals, by now... i'm doing a particular composing course focused on sperimentalism, not on this storical stuff... this thing is just something to imitate years and years of bach playing, just making music with a bit of laugh... music it's also a divertissement, right? not only a profession... and i have the luck to make me laugh with music by myself, composing these, like we say in italian, "bagatelle, scherzetti"... but i really thank you for your precious comment, i will remember them when i will compose a real fugue... -
it a bit hard for me to translate the plot of my musical... but i'll try.. so... ACT I -We are in the falling winter of 1989, in a small town of East Germany; Georg, a clerk employed in a burocratic office, falls in love with Alexandra, a ski-champion, who is come to the office to get her passport to take part at the up-coming World Ski Championship in Crans-Montana, Switzerland; Alexandra says no to Georg; she has a secret: once in Switerland, she will escape to France thanks to his father, a general of the Comunist Government; Georg, together with an american journalist, Bill, thinks to escape to Swizterland to meet with Alexandra; ACT II - We are in Crans Montana, on the Chrismtas Day; Alexandra meets Georg, but says no again about their love: she can't explain, but their relationship will never work; then we follow the characters in the big christmas party the hotel offers to the vacationists; at the party, Georg has the possibility to talk to Alexandra, and she tells him all about her escape to France; Georg, happy indeed, says that if is this the problem, it can be solved easly: they will escape together; during the party, the two escapes through the forest; but Georg is captured by the body-guards who used to take care the ski team; ACT III - We follow here the main characters in to different places: Georg in prison in Berlin and Alexandra, free and famous in U.S.A.; Alexandra never forgot Georg, and she tried several times to find him, unsuccessfully; Alexandra listens to radio that something's happening in Europe: people in Berlin are really sad about government and they made a lot of strikes; In Berlin, the heads of Comunist Party order to the generals that no one of the politic prisoners will obtain freedoom, also if the government is in the complete caos; the general in head of the prison communicates to Georg the decision of the government, so Georg decides to kills himself; Alexandra flights to Berlin and tries to meet her father, who now is general in head in a prison, in Berlin; once there, she confesses to her father the love for a boy named Georg; her father says that probably there is in that politic prison someone named Geor; he brings her to Georg's cell, but they find only his corpse; the musical ends with the drammatical shout of Alexandra when she look at Georg, dead, and with an instrumental finale. I don't know if i was clear, i tried to do the best... So, what i want to do, by now, it's to find a more light subject... will be great an one act play in the stile of neil simon, with a bit of humor, a lot of laughs for the theater-goers, ten easy-listening song... that will be great... that is what i've tried to do in my second musical, and it's gone... i need, now, a third one... i will reduce in one act the three-act musical selecting the best songs, making an easyer plot and reducing the 60-piecies orchetration into 20-piecies, then i will combine this one together with the second and, if someone will help me, the third... it's like composing a "Trittico"...

i've written a couple of months ago a christmas melody really cute... we can suite your words on the originals i made in italian, but i think the music its a bit melanconic... it's a stuff i've composed expecting christmas, not laughing after and about christmas...

ok, it's right.... it's your own stuff, you have to use it by your self...

hi, there... i'm a young italian composer and i'm in search of a lyricist-playwright with good ideas for a new musical play... someone who could write a brilliant book and a few good lyrics, i don't care if in english or american... i'm a playwritgh on my own, before in the just-spoken theatre then in the musical theatre with the drama "La neve sui prati d'inverno", but it would be great if someone could help me, leaving me just composing the score... if someone's there, just contact me here...

Here i'm again with a my own work... you have here my three acts drama called in the original language "La neve sui prati d'inverno", translated for you "Snow on winter gardens"( i guess it is the correct way to translate it). It is a very formalized piece for theatre, running about three ours. The drama is introduced by an "Ouverture"; each act presents an "Entre Acte", an introduction played by the chorus and a grand final (the "finale ultimo" runs itself about 20-minutes) and, obviously arias, duects ect.. the orchestration i made for this work is the following; 2 Flutes 2 Oboes Clarinet 2 Saxophones 2 Bassoons 2 Horns 3 Trumpets 2 Trombones 2 Percussionist (playing a long list of instruments) Electric Guitar 1/Acoustic Guitar Electric Guitar 2 Electric Bass Harp Piano Keyboards 2 Vocals in the orchestra pit Violins (I-II) Violas Cellos Doublebasses Here, in my own "myspace" page you find a selection of pieces from the work, in particular the "Ouverture" and the two "Entre Actes". Numbers in the score 1.Ouverture [1] ATTO I 2.Introduzione “Lasciami Sognare” [1a] 3.Aria “Io sognavo” [2] 4.Underscore [2a] 5.Trio “Musica
