  1. Hey, thanks. Yeah, that's just a demo version, so it'll repeat and be a lot longer with an outro section too.... Didn't there used to be a world music section? ~Kal
  2. Instrumentation: Vibes, Vocals, Electric Piano, Guitars, Bass, and Drums. (All recorded live) Well I'm alright I wish the same could be said For the girl in the blue dress She's on top of things so far Burning bright So bright she'll be blind by morning She's still catching raindrops on her face Or are those tears? Nobody's looking But everyone's staring at her DImmer by day Don't know how I could ever Stand someone who moves that way She thinks she's got vestibules Why do I stay? It's the self-destructive part of me that keeps me here She's still catching raindrops on her face Or are those tears? Nobody's looking But everyone's staring at her How can I find the words to tell her She's surfing cloud nine And everything won't be fine and dandy? Now I'm there catching raindrops in her place Or are those tears? Still can't stand to look her in the face After all those years She's still catching raindrops on her face Everyone's staring at the girl in the blue dress
  3. The first piece I wrote in college, about two years ago. Pretty stripped down form, really funky solo section. I really like the 10/4 vamp (2/4+4/4+4/4), I hope to use it in a later (and better) composition. Ignore my bad singing. — Score has only the chords, not the melody. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Rain Circus

A tune I started a while back. One of my less harmonically adventurous numbers, I had been listening to a lot of minimalism when I wrote this. Rain Circus (listen) <- Just a demo version They won't let you in You have run out of future sins Save your own back They don't want your smile The tents of tears are in Q formation The world's pentamime* The Rain Circus is back in town They're hanging the clowns You trade in your soul Fifteen tickets in the silver bowl* Sacred premieres The mime will only cry Another pin for your sad collection This one really shines The Rain Circus is back in town They're hanging the clowns So, I basically need another prechorus (last two lines of verse), and to fix those two filler lines (*) I threw in there. Any suggestions? Comments? Catharsis? ~Kal
  5. Minimalist rock piece featuring marimbas and celeste, with some nice phaser and delay effects... Rain Circus
  6. Oh, I'm just talking about that accelerando-esque thing you had going on there (I've seen anything like it before and I have NO clue what it's called)... I don't think it was very even, and if I wasn't looking at the score I wouldn't have noticed it... ...But then again, maybe that was the point. ~Kal
  7. First off... Is #3 Triangles or Dots? I would guess that it was triangles because it's #3, but I don't know....The videos are inconsistent with the score titles for #3 and #5... Are you playing one of these parts? Either way, I would've had them go through those four measures starting at measure 18(?) in the second movement. Overall, very nice! Very interesting, some cool effects in there with the marimba and horns... I liked it. Kudos! ~Kal
  8. That's exactly what it is. Punk jazz :p The melody over the verse is kind of droning actually, kinda influenced by radiohead, and then the chorus goes into a more active 11/4 type groove... ~Kal
  9. Anything/everything to some degree by the Beatles. And especially The Beach Boys. ~Kal
  10. The most important thing is that it sounds good. Not necessarily pleasant, but good. If something doesn't sound good to you, chances are it isn't. ~Kal
  11. I say Finale. Other people will say Sibelius. Those are the only two worth mentioning (I think Finale's better, but it's a personal preference). I also have Notion, and it just doesn't compare. ~Kal
  12. Anarchy Girl Snow girl haven
  13. I have a MacBook pro. It's wonderful. I hate Apple. I also hate phones that do things other than make phone calls and send text messages. So I think it would be a bad idea. It would be like taking everything that's frustrating with Finale and/or Sibelious and squeezing it into an absurdly small screen with buttons that are too hard to press. BUT, if you're talking about using it as an instrument, that's not that bad of an idea... ~Kal
  14. As long as YOU think it sounds good, and you can come up with a melody that you think sounds good with it, it's fine. If not, it sucks. ~Kal
  15. You can always play some random stuff in a totally random and unrelated key, and then end or resolve on a chord tone... Like the Dmin in So What, you could do something like play Jingle Bells in F#...And then you could resolve it by playing it up a half step in G. That's just an example I'm pretty sure's been done before... ~Kal
