  1. My my havent been around this site in a while, thanks for all the generally approving comments, and yes, i have been listening to gorguts, and yes, i am able to play this, tho i may struggle with some parts i can generally do it. Come think of it, i may just record this stuff sometime soon, be good to have a real version of it somewhere. Ill link it here (along with some of my newer, stylistically quite different, pieces) if people are interested...
  2. Yep. Thats what i said, 4'33 is sound listened to with intent = music. But obviously mr cage isnt the only one who can do that, hence anything you actually listen to/create with intent can technically qualify as music - see xenakis' more obscure electronic pieces, or even any common noise artist, etc. (Which is of course no judgement about the quality and/or magnitude of musicality - as seen in a more traditional context.)
  3. Sound is not music. Music is listened to - and created - with intent. Music is sound listened to with intent. Sound listened to with intent is music.
  4. Interesting idea, 12-Tone should work quite well in a jazz context, now itd just need to be developed more with multiple instruments, variations etc. Im actually pursuing a very similar idea with 12-tone death metal (see a couple threads above for some midi/sheet) its really a quite universally applicable concept full of unseen possibilities...
  5. Tablature is included for No3 as standard notation doesnt support quarterbends and such... Op5No1 - 12-Tone Death (pt.I).pdf Op5No2 - 12-Tone Death (pt.II).pdf Op5No3.pdf
  6. Heres some recent ideas employing somewhat "modern" techniques in a death metal context. No1 & 2 use 12 Tone rows and take a semi-serial approach, meaning that the rules are often bent or broken for aesthetic purposes. No3 is a generally more "melodic" piece (tho still atonal for the most part) with heavy focus on rythm. All the pieces are more or less incomplete, especially No1 & 2 in which all the guitars are still playing roughly the same thing.
