I've posted a new track to my SoundCloud page at http://soundcloud.com/stevecooke/she-believes. I guess that this song is a ballad of sorts and stylewise it could be described as trip-hop funk, maybe with a hint of acid jazz. I actually wrote and recorded this a decade ago, but hadn't put it online until this week now that I'm finally getting back into writing new stuff again after a lengthy creative hiatus (ie, zero songs written between 2002 and 2009, whereas now I'm writing quite a few). I plan to re-record this track again in the near future, along with some newer material, so I would very much appreciate any feedback on how it might be improved. (Incidentally, I have learned since this recording was made that my original pronunciation of 'feng shui' was incorrect, so the lyric and rhyme for the relevant line in the final verse have been slightly amended.) There are some useful samples here: CD known issues - Music Tech Magazine It's the place where UK magazine Music Technology apologises for errors on their cover-mounted DVD and makes available for download the samples their readers couldn't access on the faulty disks. But you don't have to be a subscriber or a member of their website to access this particular page on the site (well, not until they spot this post, perhaps). Their latest disk cock-up is a pretty useful one as the samples with issue 73 are very good indeed and include sci-fi synth FX multisampled instruments in both NI Kontakt and WAV formats, plus a loop-based electronic rhythm construction kit.

Actually, quite a few of the 'high-end' synths on the market do have balanced outputs. But two vital pieces of information appear to have been left out of this thread so far: (1) which keyboard(s) are you thinking of buying? (2) which audio interface are you planning to connect it to? If you can provide this info, then we'll be able to provide a very specific answer to your query rather than one based on hypothetical speculation.
