  1. Marius, you're really talented. Lovely sound, lovely mixing, lovely harmonies, really interesting piano sound, the sweet innocence of the latter half is very beautiful. Thanks for sharing it :).
  2. Really liked this track. Good job. I don't think i can add any critique which Marius or Rolifer hasn't covered already, but i just wanted to say i liked the music. hehe.
  3. I love all the electronic stuff, its full of texture and quite exciting. Could imagine this as the music to some sort of action setpiece in a videogame or something.
  4. Hey! Nice work. I could definately spot a bit of the MGS-esque sound in there, but its a pleasant track to listen to. I think the second half isn't as strong as the first, but it definately works as some sort of background music, although i think as themic material it wouldn't work. Anyway, good job! Hope to hear more from you soon.
  5. Thanks for the positive feedback :) what would you have used instead of the F horn Kevin?
  6. Wow, i really like the ambient feel of this piece, i've no doubt it'll work well in your film, however as a standalone piece i think you may need to develop a melody or a motif a bit more for it to be compelling listening. (as others have pointed out). But as it stands, its very good background music just to listen to for chillaxing or something, hehe.
  7. I haven't played or listened to the OST from kingdom hearts, but this piece isn't bad, plenty of variation keeps it interesting, even though the instrument sounds themselves aren't amazing hehe. I guess i would probably enjoy it more if i knew where the themes were coming from, because at times the piece seems to jump about a bit.
  8. Hey guys, now that exams are done I have started composing some new music. This one is for Asahina's death scene from the anime Rahxephon. For those of you who haven't seen it, just a quick primer so you know why this scene is really tragic: Ayato (the boy piloting the big white mecha) saves the girl (Asahina), from the Mulians (aliens with blue blood), however he doesn't know that she has been possesed by them and they use her to manifest a giant doll in the real world to attack him. He goes out to fight it thinking he is protecting her, but because the doll and the possesed human are physically linked, he ends up killing her as he destroys the doll. Tragic irony indeed. Anyway, see what you think.
  9. I dig the vibe from this piece. Even though its .mid it still sounds very good, and it reminds me of some oldschool SNES games haha. I agree if you get this orchestrated with a proper sound library it'd sound amazing. But good job on the composition anyway :).
  10. Heya, just checked out some of your other "fan music" things. First the FF7 Battle Theme, it had a very celtic tone to it, and i'm not quite sure it fit all too well to the FF7 flavour, but definately an interesting track. I think perhaps it would have done better with a bit more backing / different instruments leading the melody, as the violin was left on its own working furiously for a lot of the time and it got a little repetitive. Also saw the One Winged Angel rewrite, boy you don't like to shy away from challenges do you? haha. This piece was pretty awesome i thought, really nice variation, good theme development, love the use of the choir, fits with the whole angelic theme. The only criticism I had is that it doesn't loop easily, but i guess the original OWA didn't really either :P. It cast the whole final fight in a different mood. To be honest i was never a big fan of OWA in the midi form, only in the orchestral form, so if your track was playing in that final battle, i would have no problem with that, don't know how to give a better compliment than that. I have to ask, what sound libraries are you using? i've been wanting to get a decent set of electric guitar samples and your vocals are pretty awesome.
  11. Marius, really different sound to your previous compositions i've heard, and it does sound like it would fit into a certain retro platformer game... ;) I would be happy to platform to this music as BGM haha, although it sounds like it would be a pretty frenetic game.
  12. Marius, thanks for the lovely comments. As for production skills, i don't really know where to start with this, i mean, do you have any good resources for tutorials or something? I literally have zero knowledge apart from plug the sound samples in and play them...hehe. I start exams err...tomorrow, but after they're all done you'll definately hear some new compositions :). Kyle, Always happy to meet another nightwish fan, really gutted they aren't touring in the UK this year, i had chance to get tix and see them when Tarja was still around but didn't go, so gutted!!! Thanks for the compliments! Like i said to Marius, as soon as exams are done i'll be composing some more :). Do post some of your own music up, i'd love to have a listen! (especially if its also nightwish inspired! haha)
  13. Hey, just listened. Playful is not the word i would use to describe it. Some parts of it i think have more of a romantic tone (that may have just been your midi sounds though). For the most part it was nice, but there were some odd passages in terms of harmony, ah...i'm not musically trained enough to really tell you whats wrong in those passages, perhaps nothing is, but it sounded weird to my ear. haha. To make it more playful, perhaps raise the tempo a tad, and use less minor chords? It is quite relaxing background music to listen to though.
  14. Just listened to "Coming Storm" and i did like it. I did like the build up, and it was well executed, however, i didn't feel the impact as much towards the climax. I felt it lacked some percussive "oomph", thought about putting some sort of drums in?
  15. thanks for the compliment. haha. when recording this i literally just plugged sibelius into EWQL and played it straight back and recorded...i dont really have a clue about music production at all.
