  1. Ever watch the last scene of Mr. Holland's Opus?
  2. Very interesting. I particularly enjoy the dark opening and how it seems to flow into the dissonances. I don't find it bland at all, in fact it sounds more like a river flowing downstream into hell. I like it very much.
  3. It's quite nice, especially the alternating consonance and dissonance in the bass line. I would sing it!
  4. I'm currently working on a choir piece, and I'm trying to decide whether to make it for double choir or single choir. The main reason I'm considering double is because I would like to have dissonances between a long, almost neverending, chord and the actual piece. Would this be too annoying for half the choir to sing the same chord for a long time, or should I try to intermingle the chord in just a normal SATB piece?
  5. Hi, I have my heart set on the Peabody Conservatory's composition program. I've written a couple of chamber pieces and am quite proficient on the violin, but I don't know much about keyboard playing or music theory going above violin notation, chords, inversions, and clefs, though I'm trying to teach myself theory. What kind of requirements of keyboard playing/theory knowledge do good conservatories require of their applicants? The Peabody website doesn't really go in depth on that matter besides telling applicants that they need "some keyboard proficiency and ability to pass a theory rudiments test".
