  1. Thanks! Looks good. J
  2. Hey guys, I need some help with writing for the french horn. Any horn players out there? I want to understand cuivre and stopping and muting with examples of the sound, on video online or maybe you know a piece of music that has examples of each. Please help. Thanks J
  3. Cool :) I like it. I would like it faster though. It is a gigue afterall. When I say faster I mean... twice the speed. Like what Gould would do with Bach on the keyboard. I can hear a bit of Bach in this. You like tonal music and that is great but maybe one or two places where a more sexy chord, a little more dissonance would add some spice. J

    Wake Me Up

Very dark but I like yet. Yo maybe you could do two things, but it's only my idea. One is to cut out 'warming' in connection to the sun - adjectives to describe stuff can sometimes be awkward in songs. The other thing is that you could let your imagination run wilder - I like 'thoughts continue to die', you need a little more unusual word pictures like that, just to make the words jump out and be memorable. Refer to people, the street, animals, whatever takes your fancy but give us more images, they are great. thanks for sharing Jai
  5. Keep up the good work Steven. I noticed the title cause I too am Irish. I would consider the movement titles also in Irish with translation in the prog notes. It would add something different to things. You write from the heart, that is clear and that is good. Jai
  6. Hi there, I am an Irish composer looking for a violinist. You don't have to be in Ireland! If you would like to see some of my stuff. I'd really like to work more closely with someone. In other words, to write for a particular musician. I have been composing a few years now - it's what I studied at Uni so I have a fair idea of the instrument but I am working on solo violin pieces and contact with a violinist, the eventual performer of the premier, would be great. Jai
  7. thanks for the heads up :)
