  1. I liked it alot... nothing to add really. I think you should do a recording with no birds...... (ummm, why are there birds... my first thought is you might have an aviary or something.) Very nice. Good use of expressionism.
  2. i thought it was very nice. Good use of the dissonace. I don't really know what a Toccata so i can't help you there. One thing that might make this piece better is maybe speed up in a section or slow down. Your rythms almost stay the same throughout the main section of the song. You use a lot of fourths, was that intentional, or did that just come out.... because it sounds very good the way you wrote it (just curious.) Ok, so that is my little review... Good job. Can't wait to hear the finished version.
  3. OHH, you mean ranges for the instruments... ok thanks
  4. Thanks. I will look at that and post it in the final draft.
  5. Ok thank you very much, first off, I never placed the timpani, Finale did... I never knew that. Is it possible to move it? The trumpet should be moved to a piccolo trumpet during that section, i forgot to notate that. (also, this piece was never meant to be played by an actual orchestra. They are all solo instruments) secondly, the score is written for a Bass Trombone to play the entire piece. I thought I put that on the score. thirdly, I don't know how to write good strings... The Oboe and Trumpet are really meant to be sort of the 'solo' instruments throughout the piece. Like I said earlier, there is only ONE of each instrument. I haven't ever studied orchestration before, so I really wouldn't know. My knowledge of chords are really limited.... But, I am always willing to learn.
  6. (If this doesn't belong here... then move it please) Ok three questions for our instrumentalists (all of you who don't play instruments... Pity)--- 1. What is your favorite STYLE of music to play--- ex. Baroque, Classic, Romantic, Contemporary, Modern, Post-Modern, ect... 2. What is your favorite PIECE to play--- ex. Sonata in B Minor, Moonlight Sonata, Fur Elise, ect... (it can be from any time period) 3. Why did you start to play an instrument--- ex. There are none. ----------------------------------
  7. I thought it was great. i do have to agree when EmmDoubleEw says that your chords stay the same and they get boring. Your melody, it was amazing. one of the best! Very nicely done.
  8. Ok, so after talking to Nico... I decided to follow an actual structure on this one. It will have four movements... ------ 1. Allegro- Sonata Form. (finished) 2. Adagio- Ternery Form. (UPDATE--- Section A done, Started section B) 3. Maestoso (yay, I put the 's'... sorry inside joke), Adagio, Presto, ect... - Theme and Variations (UPDATE--- Sarted over, No theme) 4. Scherzo- UPDATE--- Rondo (UPDATE--- None) ------ 1. Techniques used I am going to be heavily consentrating on Form. Sonata, Theme and variations, Ternery, Rondo ect... All of which will be included. 2. How long it took to compose the piece Movement I---- 3 Hours Movement II--- UPDATE--- 1:25 Movement III-- (haven't strated) Movement IV-- (haven't started) 3. Structure of your piece Like in the first section: Sonata, Ternery... ect... 4. Obstacles when composing Actually sticking to the form I am using. UPDATE--- Finishing the second movement before tomorrow, sundown... 5. Summary of overall piece Well, it will be a challenge... Here is the first Movement--- It is a waltz sort of. Piano_Sonata__2_Movement_I.MUS Piano_Sonata__2_Movement_I.MID
  9. Mr. Canzano. Thank you for telling me this, I have been wanting SOMEBODY to actually tell me it is unorganized. Actually, I am in the process of fixing this. Would you have any suggestions for me on how to fix this problem for future reference whilst I am writing music?
  10. Awesome suggestions. I made it a one person piece because I liked it as a one person piece better. (these correspond with your numbers) 1) Which movement? 2) I love ostinato and I use them a lot. I really like it there. Sorry it bugs you. 3) it is there as part of the fantasia, totally made up. I like it because it is random. I always put something like that into my compositions. Mainly because it gives a nice break to the soft adagio at the beginning. --- My chords at the end were actually the end of the second theme. So I though that was cool. Would you like a different ending, because I am not getting what you are saying?.... but, if what you mean is to put some accidentals on there I can do that... but other than that you would have to clarify yourself.
  11. Does it sound classical? It is supposed to be modern....... If you are a bad pianist I wouldn't try this piece until you get a lttile better. You should know it is a one-piano reduction of a sonata for two pianos... You are basically playing two pianos on one piano and with only one person. Also, the chords sound off because they don't follow a harmonic prgression, that is what makes them EXPERIMENTAL. Thanks for the comments!
  12. I liked it. Very repeating-like.... but nonetheless. Good Job! I think a more dramatic ending would be helpful you know to wrap up the song.
