  1. hey they're pretty nifty :) what'd you use to record? im guessing u have some midi tracks in there but im not so sure. anyway nice vocal tracking
  2. well i write music using midi cos it scores/ playsback at the same time, convenient, FREE (using anvil studio here), easy to edit, tracks over another easily, etcs and etcs.. i just play with what im given, im not gna shell out 500 especially not when this is more of a hobby than a career aspiration for me anyway
  3. i use anvil studio but you cant print there (off the demo). not that i need to print i use it to score instruments and its fair basic so perhaps give it a go
  4. i write pop songs so heres wat i do: first i think of a snazzy title then i think of a snazzy phrase that matches with that title i put a tune to that phrase from there things usually just roll and then i work out the chords and stuff mash it all together in front of the piano and then i score a suitable arrangement most of the time i cbf tho after i do this i usually scrap the original title and original words and put something else in. the end.
  5. ok i'm thinking of setting up a few mp3's featuring my voice and my piano/guitar with maybe a few friends but i wanna record my songs from home without going to some studio. is this possible? if so, would i need any tools (programs) other than my computer? would any headset/mic work fine? thanks :)
  6. yeah, i would recommend you use wmp to play the midi, because i can hear the percussion fine. i dont hear the amazing grace resemblance though :( anyway the chord progressions are C,G,Am,F etc until the end, with some tiny variations (being Dm,G and C,G,Dm,F) so i definately didn't intend for anyone to hear pachebel in this, but generally pop songs that use the pachebel progression i think sound pretty good, so ill take that as a compliment :O im still working on my percussion scoring, with me not ever touching a drum kit ever before, and prehaps i should only use the crash sparingly. thanks for the comments, though, they are greatly appreciated.
  7. umm yeah, "adjective noun" is a good format, although typically band names come searching for you, not the other way around. you'd be better off coming up with your band name, because no matter what other people's suggestions are not going to tickle your fancy at all.
  8. attached to this post is a pop song i recently scored. im pretty shocking at lyrics, so please dont shoot me. ps: also guess what i found a really old post by me in 2005 :O http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/my-song-what-we-did-together-161.html okay enjoy, and comments / suggestions would be heaps appreciated far too quiet.txt watch.mid
  9. hey, i've just been composing a few pop songs here and there, and now i've decided the time is ripe for fleshing them out, ie scoring the percussion. generally my past compositions have all been in midi format, so i want to retain that, however i want more in my melodies than just a simple beat. (usually i utilise AnvilStudio and set an instrument channel to 10). i dont play any percussion at all, but i'd like to know how... are there any tuts on the internet that could help me here? Ps: i just reread my post and realised most of it was garbage that made no sense but the annoying header is reversing my decision to just click on that 'x' button in the corner :( chances are, someone will understand what i mean (hopefully) pps: if you dont know what i mean download any pop song atm in midi format with sibelius or finale or something and check out the percussion score. ppps: ok im not sure if pps and ppps even exist but the two contradict each other. whatever!
  10. What is with the random posts by Googlebot, its starting to piss me off :D ?? It's kinda annoying (!)
  11. Yay hi there... im not really god at crtiquing... dunno why I even do it... anyways. i like the piano. the percussion annoys me. its kinda repeatitive. the dynamics are ace though :) btw i was listening to the midi file
  12. yeh i like it.... especially the instrumentation. its fast paced and fun, good work. :)
  13. hi! i found this very interesting. i really liked the piano or whatever its called playing that repeated note. (the one at the start) very jumpy and happy.
  14. hi! umm... i listened to it... i didn't really like it.... but thats jst me....i dont really see what ur tryin to depict here... but yeh, as wolf 88 says... its more suited as a loop. liked the ending tho. but im no expert
  15. yes for me, i need other things to interest me, not just the free-for-all which might as well change its name to "gay/sex chat" nothing against anyone, jus feel we need more variety.
