  1. everyone loves a good cor anglais solo
  2. If you're really 13 years old, this is amazing. It's so conventional! It's so happy! So friggin happy! And there are lots of nice thirds up in there
  3. This sounded really renaissancey in the beginning cos it sounded a little lutey. I liked this. There wasn't all that emphasis on the 7/8, which I was kinda looking forward to. I really like the harmony in this.
  4. Some nice chord progressions. Otherwise it sounds a little runescape-ey. It's awfully conventional, isn't it? Your use of brass is interesting. The score would indeed be helpful! Be sure to message me when you upload it? It's very cinematic. This would be a good 90s film score; 10s not so much.
  5. I really enjoyed it. Big time. It kind of reminds me of Steve Reich, particularly with the modality and some use of repetition, and that's why I liked it probably. My musical tastes are a little unusual, and this piece satisfied them. Thanks a lot for this. One criticality - the score is a little ugly. Sure its accurate (apart from the excessive use of triplets which seem to give the need for compound time), but the general layout is a little disheartening. For such a modern and inventive piece, don't make the score old and boring A wonderful, wonderful piece though. Really enjoyed it.
  6. is working on "Outride Occurence," inspired by Reich's Double Sextet!

  8. Music for 18 Musicians, Steve Reich. By A LONG SHOT. Section IIIA: CHANGED MY LIFE. I thought it was the most amazing and beautiful pieces of music I had ever heard. Really. Now I compose just like Reich. Sure its a bit out there, but I do.
  9. I really loved this. Really loved it. The whole thing is pretty cool; its sort of half experimental and half romantic for some reason - the piano sounded very 2000's Reichian; Reich's music sorta changed in 2005; he got more melodic, and your piece certainly sounds like something he would write. I thought this was pretty darn amazing, actually. I loved it. Wonderful to listen to, and it makes me wish I was a percussionist. Your details in the score are excellent! Well done, and thanks for sharing.
  10. Simply moving. I loved it. Loved it so much. The repetition is amazing! I love how you repeat a phrase of good value to good effect. Very nice sound. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Amazing. Very well done, and thank you for the entertainment.
  11. What is the software instrument you used for this? It sounds a bit like Garageband's or Logic's sounds, but I could be wrong. I liked it. Very nice to listen to; the homophonic texture got a bit annoying at times, but still ok.
  12. Very good! Very very good! I loved the simplicity of it. Perhaps some dynamic changes at places? It sounded a lot like Thomas Newman's music, a lot of that; your use of chords is very simplistic yet complicated - I would stay away from those suspensions if I were you - makes it sound a bit too retro for the mood you're trying to achieve. I liked it! Well done! I hope to hear more from you soon.
  13. Thank you guys so much! Wow. I have never shown my work to anyone, and I am thankful for your feedback! The notation is rushed - I could definitely clean up the score to make it look like Music for 18's score; simply musical directions with several repeats and all that. @sabiansoldier --> A lot of people told me that I let some sections drag on for too long - and I intend to do a composition for GCSE Music in minimalism, and it really can't run over 5 minutes - I really need to work on something. I really want to use your idea to really repeat a phrase until I'm sick of it, but then some people don't like that. I LOVE MINOR 7th Chords 9th 11ths WOWOWOWOWOWOWOOWW I'll tidy up the notation. Thanks so much guys! :)
  14. You attach the file and then you WAIT until it has finished uploading.
  15. Great piece! I really like your use of minor 7th chords - it really works. You must be a chordal genius - it sounds quite fascinating how some of them progress! What went well: Good chord structures - different to the original; makes it stand out and almost jazzy. Beautiful use of melody; particularly with the trombone and trumpets - they each complement each other very nicely Often musically orgasmic. ;) To improve: I don't see the point of it being in 6/8 - why not 3/4? It is much too slow to be interpreted in 2 beats, so I think you should somehow change that. Dynamics at the end of bar 13 are slightly off - perhaps a crescendo into 14? Not much else, to be honest. Well done! Fantastic interpretation of the piece. A whole new mood at some points.
