I looked at my written formulas again and noticed I do have a natural A in D Phrygian. Why I didn't see this prior posting I have no idea. It must be too much analyzing in a day that has started to fry my brain :P
I have two more questions if you don't mind...
Using the above theme for example:
1. For a mode to work, I thought it was common to play the tonic first (G) as a starting note to get the Phyrgain feel? But in this case, the theme starts on an F, and a D is played first for the main melody.
2. Why would the composer have this in Eb Major? Is there any specifics or it's all a matter of how the composer first got the tune in his/her head?
