  1. Hi Violetta:

I am so sorry for not responding to you sooner..  I didn't really get the 'messaging' system here..

I would be honored to listen to some of your work..  I couldn't figure out how to find it..

Are there pieces in the new section, or the archives? (didn't look there yet)

Chopin (a moderator or owner), does plan to revamp it, but has other priorities right now..

if you can point me to your music, I'd love to check it out.

Just made friends this week with a Luis Hernandes.   Since I don't do 'classical' type music,

the majority here never check out the pop section, or can't be bothered to respond..

I've read some really excellent critiques in the classical sections, but I feel so far removed, I'm not competent to offer insight, other than technical, sound issues..

  2. Hi. I've come across a deal like this: coupon for a 15% discount on any sheet music at MusicaNeo All you need to do is enter the code SAVEME15 at the checkout. Honestly, I have never used coupons before (to my shame) and I'm wondering if there are a lot of musicians who do it regularly? Taking into account that performers always need the sheets, is it a good way to save some pennies?
  3. Hi guys! I was not quite sure where to post that but I decided that it's something that would belong to composers' headquarters :) (let me know if I should move this topic somewhere else) SO, there is that curious music project - "Maestro-in-the-Making" http://www.musicaneo.com/music-for-children.html The idea is to hold an international competition among modern composers and encourage them to create fun and engaging music pieces for children that would be published in a music book and sent for free to music schools all over the world. They are raising funds right now at IndieGoGo to bring that to life. If the goal is reached in time, the whole thing will go live. I personally think it's a great - and quite tangible - idea! Huh? Thought spreading the word about it would help! What are your thoughts?
  4. Hi guys! Here's an easy contest for you: Till March, 31 MusicaNeo is holding a gift-campaign that includes a bonus competition. The idea is pretty easy: ~ 1) Those who invite friends to join in and upload their sheet music receive a present (one of 3 special sheet music collections on DVD) AND 2) Those 3 who invite the biggest number of friends receive $300, $100 and $50 accordingly. ~ The good part is that you can both get your sheet music published and promoted for free and also get some money  ~ DETAILS HERE>> ~ Good luck! :phones:
  5. A very interesting composition there's modern harmony in it but at the same time melodic line and the use of dissonances adds a specific keenness to the way it sounds and brings me to some fairy-tale country) in general, i listened to it at a breath. the stratification of the chords gives the whole piece a very modern sounding. Nice.
  6. i see where u heading. i know it's almost impossible to define the right and the wrong in any kind of art. however, any composition is built according to some 'common rules' - u cant just slam the keyboard randomly, right? so thats what i basically mean by 'mistakes'. on the other hand, a mistake here is a failure to reach the result u had been aspiring to attain.
  7. a pleasant composition, i liked the beautiful development. however, it doesnt cause such bright emotions, u know what i mean?
  8. At times it's not that easy to spot your own mistakes - sometimes you just need someone to help you pointing them out. An independent view gets useful..
  9. I love the way the scenario untwines. Nice. Though i would make a more 'distict' ending, imho
  10. What about such a question. If you were only beginning to compose music, who would u wish to be your professor and mentor? Would that be some classical period composer or maybe a more 'contemporary' one? Well, I love Bach, trully, but who would You choose, and why? Please, share. So curious to find out!)
  11. Yes, definitely. I'd buy them, good quality things are always pleasant to play from!
  12. right, with today's technology one can make a trully splendid website, with all that catchy design and interface, etc. However, i agree with YC26 on the professionalism requirement. Don't show off untill you have something worth offering.
  13. well I'd go back to the source of inspiration! Trivial e.g. walked in the jungles, saw an animal, composed a piece, named "tropical creature"
  14. I don't think that the notion itself ("composer") has the only definition today. Too many guys call themselves so, though in fact what they are doing can hardly be called composing in its classical understanding. Thus, the role of a 'composer' in the modern society gets a multicolor character :) IMHO
