  1. @Nigel: Thanks Nigel for your comment. Yup, you're right, I need to think of something more interesting instead of adding the 9th. I'll try what I can come up with. :pinch: @Thewritingwriter: haha.. Thanks for that, I agree with you. By the way, I've found that the link isn't working now, so I've uploaded it to a temporary server. Download here: http://www.geocities.com/wktang83/japanese_doll.mp3
  2. hmmm... seems like this piece didn get much comments, I think there must be a problem with it. I've listened to it using headphones, and I found that I do not feel comfortable listening using headphones. So, I've turned down the main melody volume, and now it's much better... Also, if you don't like this piece when you listen to it, can you please tell me the reason? Is it because of the instrument? or is it because it's midi quality? By listening to your comments, this will help me to improve... 3. hehe I guess it's called 'atmosphere' for a good reason. The running notes there does create a very good atmosphere. I think this piece will fit in a romantic scene of a RPG game...
  4. Ya the instrument is confusing to me too hah.. All I know is it has three strings (and a quite limited range of notes too ) Anyway the sound of shamisen seemed to be quite harsh in the midi. (maybe the impossible high range of notes that I tried to squeeze in). I hope that it doesn't scare off a lot of people..
  5. Wow great orchestration! This reminds me of the warcraft theme... I'm wondering what software you used to compose this piece?
  6. awwww it feels so warm and sweet listening to it. I like the panning from left - mid - right at the beginning :( the effect in the background create some pretty good atmosphere too... The addition of the notes in the background at 1:23 is really nice, I love it (is it harp?)
  7. Thank you so much for listening it, and those comments do help. Yup, I agree with you, the 3:11 part do seem to out of sync after you mentioned it. Thanks for pointing that out. :P The main instrument is a Japanese traditional instrument called "Shamisen". It's a 3 stringed instrument. I've used a quite wide range of notes on the main melody (I really doubt the real instrument has such wide ranges). Besides that, the flute sound that you hear starting from 1:09 is also a Japanese flute. I really like the sound of it, it feels so peaceful and soulful. I always like the strings addition. It feels so warm, I really can't resist the temptation of using strings :D Btw cool pic. Guessed you're a big fan of Uematsu. I really like him. He inspired me a lot.
  8. It's been more than a month since I composed anything. I finished this new piece in a week. It's supposed to have a japanese traditional + modern feel. I spent like the first 2 days to get the melody idea, and the rest of the time arranging this piece. I put a lot of emphasis on arranging it. So tell me what do you think! I would love to listen to your comments, about any part you think is good, or can be better. ;) Thanks for listening. DOWNLOAD: Japanese Doll
  9. Hey James... Your piece sound sacred... It's also peaceful to listen ;) I think it do fit in a main theme.
  10. Pretty good idea. It's relaxing to hear. It'll be great if you can develop another section. ;)
  11. Hi James, what I can say is, this piece really touches my heart. I feel so great listening it again, and I think it's a masterpiece! This version is definitely better, the quality is very good. Definitely a very good ancient village theme! I'll rate this 10/10
  12. This sounded a lot improvisational feeling.. I think it's pretty good with the improvisation thing going.
  13. @javileru: Haha... Congratulations!!! So, is it gonna be a baby girl or a baby boy? o.O That's the most "special" comment I ever heard by the way :) @James: James, thanks for stopping by again... There's a guy who's really good in writing lyrics, and he really liked it, so he decided to add the lyrics in. And, most amazingly, he wrote the lyrics in one night! O.O And James, missing a week of school? huh... Because... you cried so much? probably not. Working on the next major composition? HELL YEAHHH!!! So when are you gonna complete the Farewell Suite Second Movement? Wow you gotta post it here ya' know...
  14. James looks like you've updated the first movement of "Fairwell Suite"... Great job! Nothing much to say about it, just keep composing! Are you composing the second movement now? I'm looking forward to listening it!
  15. Hey, just a quick update for this song.. Someone from another forum has filled in the lyrics for this song... I'm so excited about it! The title is "Faraway in the Sky" (i bet this is a bad translation) I'm kinda lazy to translate it, and plus i'm a bad translator... If anyone is gonna translate this to english, I'll appreaciate it :P <<远在天边>> 词: jayken Verse1[0.29] 你是天边的彩虹 是雨过后的等候 爱却等不及一片 叶落 远在天边的烟火 诉说思念是什么 我却在此不尽的 蹉跎 P-Chorus1 心碎面容 泪眼迷朦 我对着你离去的 方向 探索 也许失落 也许你也 哭过 甜蜜走后 渐渐变成种 错 Chorus 长城辽望台上的烽火 点着前世缠绵的烛火 红绳刺绣已经成了 屏风 岁月曾经龟(jun)裂的关口 留下 断肠人等候 爱了之后 请别让我 不忠 Verse2[2.22] 你是天边的云朵 我是沧洛的沙漠 爱怎么在干枯中 掌舵 远在天边的花朵 也曾为谁枯萎过 命运只是等待被摘夺 P-Chorus2 窗外月落 燃烧了 到尽头 在熄灭那一天我 开始 斟酌 也许失落 也许你也 哭过 甜蜜走后 渐渐变成种 错 (重复Chorus x 2) Ending 岁月曾经龟裂的关口 留下 断肠人等候 爱了之后也许你我 潇洒过
