  1. Hello Anders, A while back, I asked about switching to a judging position, because I wouldn't (and still don't) have enough free time to finish a composition, but I could judge. Please let me know if this is still an option; otherwise, I need to resign from the competition altogether. Thank you, David
  2. If you'd still like more judges, I also volunteer. I won't have as much time this month as I originally imagined, so I don't think I'd be able to submit an entry anyway. But I'm sure I can help with the judging, if you'll have me. :w00t:
  3. I listened to the first five minutes or so, and enjoyed it. However, I was looking over the score... As a cellist, I'll disagree slightly with oboehazzard and say that in some instances, triple stops are sustainable, as long as at least one note is an open string. But, typically, one would roll the bow across and split the chord. And, like manossq said, most of the cello chords are quite playable, but not necessarily ones you'd want to play. Any piece with six flats in a pain, anyway. M. 48 is the only impossible one I see, glancing through quickly, as manossq said. I'd also be happy to offer my assistance for cello orchestration, along with manossq's, if you ever want it. Actually, probably what I would do, if you wanted to have those chords played, is divide the part between two cellists. I look forward to hearing more! David G.
  4. I think... I'm in... ;) (Yes, I'm in.)
  5. It's time, Marius. :glare: K2 works properly now. EDIT: Okay, never mind that. Finale now recognizes GPO K2 edition, but Human Playback is...wonky, for lack of a better word.
  6. Thank you, I was quite wondering as well.
  7. Very solid piece; I enjoyed listening to it. It's obvious you're a percussionist...and that's a compliment. ;) I also like your use of bright piano, and the sax riffs were very good. Oh- last summer, I saw a couple of jazz vibe soloists use eight mallets, four in each hand~ amazing.
  8. Thank you. ...Though this type of music isn't something I would generally listen to, and I don't really hear a melody in it, the orchestration seems pretty sound. So it seems you've accomplished your goal. I look forward to hearing more of your work.
  9. Actually, your music is very interesting. The only comment I have is to suggest that you turn down your piano's velocity- msot of the time it's blaring. The piece is obviously virtuostic...though, like Will, I'm a bit concerned with your disclaimer up there...
  10. You might check your MP3 link...it didn't work for me, and I've never had trouble with SoundClick. But I'll be back.
  11. If you put dynamics in at the beginning, and change the settings so that instead of adjusting the velocity (default), they adjust the modulation, it solves the problem, and greatly simplifies things.
  12. Heh, very true...
  13. Hi Christopher, I hope this doesn't sound too much like I'm soliciting, but in case you're interested in getting the full version of Finale, if you're a student, teacher, or parent of a student, or all three, you can get an academic discount on all MakeMusic products. Finale 2007 at Academic Superstore Finale 2007 with Academic Discount (same program as without discount)- $239 USD. Still not cheap, but much more affordable. I've used AcademicSuperstore several times now, and have had great service and discounts.
  14. I thought that was called the BIOS... EDIT: Oh, I see, CMOS is part of BIOS... I just learned something new. And yes, that's the best way to view and edit RAM settings. You can easily readjust how much RAM is dedicated to graphics, CPU processing, etc.
  15. Very pretty, Evan. It reminds me of Ralph Vaughan Williams.
