  1. Cool piece. I think the song could have done without the bass guitar. In my opinion it didn't really blend well with the other instruments and at first gave me the impression of being static. I believe the piano chord's dynamics where the right hand begins could have been a bit moreā€¦ defined at the beginning. I seemed to feel it needed a bigger sound on that first chord to help it seem a little more dramatic and then the other chords would get more quiet. This may have been your intention, I don't know. Other than those cons listed above, I thought it was pretty good for a live recording. Good job. =)
  2. I was given the assignment to compose a song about a season. I wanted to compose a song about winter, so I wrote this. Snow about a Castle
  3. Hey, guys! In answer to your question about the samples Phantom, I use EWQL GOLD for all my compositions. About the volume. I use Logic Express 9 for my DAW and, for some reason, whenever I try to make the volume louder, the recording gets a load of static. This is annoying and I don't know how to fix it, but that's the reason I didn't make it any louder. I was thinking of maybe going back and adding some more onto this song. It was fun composing it, and I'd like to maybe make it a bit longer than it already is. Thanks for the advice. :)
  4. I wrote this for the end of a short film. The title describes what is happening. ;) King's Crowning
  5. Sorry about the late reply guys. September has been a very long month for me. =( About the lack of a theme. Well, this was originally supposed to be background music for a game, so I didn't really want to incorporate a theme. Since this is a battle, it would be faster than this, but I'm fairly new to composing using an orchestra, and I'm trying to work my way up.=) In answer to Phantom's question about the brass, yes, that is brass from EWQL Gold. Since a few of the instruments sounded a bit off when playing together, I'll go back and see if I can improve it any. Thanks for the replies guys!
  6. Glad you liked it guys. From reading your replies, it appears that some parts of this song get a bit repetitive. I agree with you guys after listening to it again. Let's see what I can do about it... Thanks for those mp3's JaredCowing. I actually did get some ideas from those. =)
  7. Here's my take on a 'regular battle' A Regular Battle
  8. Glad you guys liked it. There are choirs there in the background as well, I'll try removing them and see what that sounds like. I'm relieved to hear that the panning is ok. I'm rather new at orchestral composing and I hoped I had gotten the panning down. Thanks for your input guys!
