  1. Haha! For the most part the music was composed to the film after editing, but in some spots the editor altered some timings to better match my music. Since there was a dance production along with this, the producer and editor allowed me to really open up with the music, which was a pleasure!
  2. Yeah.. sorry about that large filesize. It was a master that I got back from the production house. Thanks for the comments, though!
  3. Any one else have any comments or criticisms for me?
  4. Drum beats are most often attributed to rock styles. The difficult thing when trying to mimic these styles is that they are HIGHLY produced. Many rock songs incorporate a very simple drum beat but run that track through several compressors, EQs, verbs, and many other effects to make it sound "big". So it may not be much in the performance of the drums as much as it is in the recording and production of it. That being said, start with something simple then add in some pickups. Here's an example: start with something that is very 8th note oriented then add 16th or 32nd note pickups before the snare hits on two and four. Also try varying the hi-hat or cymbal pattern by adding some swing type notes (dotted 8th - 16th pattern or broken triplets) See if that gives you a start. My background is in jazz and rock drumming, so I can give specific help if you need more.
  5. Thanks for your comments. I know what you mean by the "corporate presentation" remark. At some points while writing, I had the thought that it was too cheesy and overly dramatic. I finally got it to a point that both satisfies its goal and my creativity.
  6. Below is a link to the video (with musical score) that this was shown with. I also want to mention that this was composed and recorded in about a 2 month time span. If you watch the video and listen to the music, the musical themes will be very apparent. It begins with an opening sunrise. After that is a more light and playful theme, which is repeated near the end. Another theme is the triumphant french horn theme, which is played both near the beginning and at the very end. During the middle section we are "exploring" different facets of deep-sea life and the quirkier chamber music represents that. The full orchestra opens back up and introduces a little more "pomp and circumstance" before slowly building into a giant and dramatic ending. - And finally, here is the link to the video: http://www.kevinstahlmusic.com/music/files/HCEA-Video.wmv
  7. Hello everyone, This is my first post here, although I've been watching this forum for a while now. I hope to become a part of the community. I am the lead composer for Idryonis Studios, a video game and multimedia company. I also compose free-lance. Below is a link to an orchestral work I wrote for a promotional video for a pharmeceutical convention. It was synchronized with a full video production and an impressive choreographed dance. Please give me any feedback you may have ... bad or good :glare: - Here is the link to download the MP3: http://www.kevinstahlmusic.com/music/files...nStahl-HCEA.mp3 Thank you in advance!
