  1. Just finished a pretty major overhaul on the piece. From this point, i'd say that the piece is now almost finished. Still, any criticism is nice.
  2. Changing to firefox didnt do anything. How would I go about changing the skin?
  3. I hate to say this about anything, but the most efficient (notice i didn't say best...) thing to do if you're writing musicals is rip off pretty much anything even a bit obscure. It's not at all good musically, but this is a field where you have to make a LOT of music in not much time, so at some point your hand may be forced. It's not artistically fulfilling, but that's what it is.
  4. The file doesn't work. Remember to click "attach this file" after choosing the file.
  5. Whenever I log in, the chat room on the homepage of the forum doesn't load. It works perfectly well when I'm not logged in, but it just doesn't show up now. I'm using Chrome 11.0.696.68 with windows xp. I'm PRETTY sure I didnt get banned, since I didn't do anything to deserve that.
  6. If you had listened to the piece (or even read my post...) you would have noticed that it's not actually a string quartet. Originally it was (hence the aged title) but I had the same thoughts you did. I would've thought that you'd at least listen to it before commenting :/
  7. It feels to me like the bassline should be four notes (semitones)... it seems unsatisfying this way. A shrill sax over this would be pretty good too.
  8. So, I've been working on this piece for the game i'm making, with a string orchestra and timpani. It's supposed to be a big loud theme song for this rich dude, a weapons manufacturer. He's high-strung, so i was thinking of going with something like a tango, but i figured that this would work better. Basically i'm looking for suggestions on how to make it sound more grandiose, as well as the usual crits. Thanks! Also, i just saw that i had put two cellos by mistake. It's supposed to be a cello and a bass for the bottom voice. Finale 2007 - string quartet plus timp.pdf string quartet plus timp.mp3
  9. Goddamn, thats complicated. i'll have to run through basically all the lessons that arent "THIS IS A HALF NOTE"
  10. Nice! thanks man, i'm still trying to figure out the cadences thing. i really appreciate the criticism. i'll edit this post in a bit with a couple edits on the song, per your guidelines.
  11. Alright, i'm gonna bump this since i just edited it a whole bunch and i still havent really gotten any feedback.
  12. I thought about the left hand being boring, but i really dont know what to change. everything i try just makes it sound like the bottom's fallen out of the piece... Also, this is probably a noob question, but what do you mean by rhythmically syncopated noted?
  13. Not really sure how to save to a pdf in finale 07, its not under any normal options. Theres also about no chance that i'll play it on piano, seeing as i can't play piano. edit : nvm, fixed it. .pdf is up there now.
  14. Keep in mind that it also depends which string you're on, as it takes allooott more bow to get a g string on a violin sounding decent than it would take for an e.
