Percy Grainger's, his folk melodies are catchy basic and have that human quality to them that is able to reach across boundries and lift people up. Try Children's March for Concert Band 1_2-3_4-5-5-666... Funny I thought of this after the fact but he was ... well I'll quote Wiki sorry for the grotesqueness of it. "Grainger was a sado-masochist, with a particular enthusiasm for flagellation, who extensively documented and photographed everything he and his wife did. His walls and ceilings were covered in mirrors so that after sessions of self-flagellation he could take pictures of himself from all angles, documenting each image with details such as date, time, location, whip used, and camera settings."

Well we have gliss... its a type of pitchbend and already built into Finale and Gpo so Nikolas is definitely in key saying that it would be easy. Thanks but Nikolas I read through it but somehow I get a funny Key signature when I switch out of Finale's Maestro font. Part of Andrian's process involves a different font which in turn makes me crazy... Btw, thanks Gardner I didn't think of that.

Finale's Audio Volume pathetically small.

Clipping = having the green line go to red or border on it and then distort. -
So........ how to? To detail a little bit of what I have for a system and what I've been trying. A. I have Finale 2009 B. I have been trying to integrate Andrian Pertout's method of Finale Microtonal notation(Andri

Its a lack of ram. I have the same problem and just don't have the money to fix it. Try using save as audio file and then setting the playback to the space you want to hear at the moment.

I am having a problem with the Gpo Timpani sound through Finale as it is constantly getting quieter and quieter.... I'm running through vista with a realtek soundcard and am bouncing all of these playbacks as wav's so my computer doesn't freeze up.

I have finale 2009 so... there is a composite time signature tool and within that you could notate it 5/8 +1/16... I don't understand the idea behind a 5.5/8 time signature how would the musicians count it and the conducter conduct it? What is visually stimulating is not necessarily the best course of action, right?

string players a comment, please?
TheMeaningofLIfe replied to nikolas's topic in Advice and Techniques
I don't play violin but... Most likely not. They are built in 5ths and have an arched bridge so they could definitely finger the notes you want but not bow them. Doing an octace on adjacent strings would be a huge stretch in that octace and then to slide it would be even harder, but it Might* be able to be done. -

Firstly and foremost thank you to everyone whos trying to help me! :P Nitpicker! No updates available... I will reinstall finale most definitely. Ahhh yes, when I listen to things they are always bounced as I am experiancing other problems as well... such as tearing with regular playback but I pretty sure that is due to my computers retartedness. -To note the bass drum tears when it is the ONLY instrument I have loaded with GPO and am playing, so I don't think it is Finale. -

Distortion/Wierd Sucking Sound - Pls Hlp

Thanks, but I tried that already and there were no new ones available. I also uninstalled my sound card driver and couldn't find a way to reinstall it... so I had to use system recovery. Do you know where the driver would be stored so that I could reinstall it? -
So I have been presented with a strange problem on my laptop. When I listened to my music it was distorting even on a low volume level from the computer to the headphones. I then turned down my programs so that it wouldn't distort so much seeing as turning it down to a level from the computer to the headphones wasn't working. After I did that I was assulted by a benign sucking sound whenever the volume was soft on the track. It sounds like wind going through a tunnel... My Hardware: Headphones - They are Bose... I can't remember the model but they were around 150$ Computer - Toshiba Satellite A135 CPU - T2080 @ 1.73GHz 1.73GHz Ram - 1 Gb Sound Driver - Realtek High Definition Audio I would appreciate any help! Thanks, Karl

hahaha :D Thanks but you know how easy it is to get ahold of new equipment with a tight pocketbook! Any other ideas? -
So I've just updated my finale and I noticed to my own horror that the playback of my bass drum from Gpo's General Percussion is destroying the sound. It causes a wierd "ripple tear" through the rest of the music and it sounds like an over done echo. I tried recording it by itself and it still happend. I can attach an audio if anyone thinks that would help. I've also been having problems playing back from the middle of the piece but I think that this is just due to alot of instruments (full orchestra) and my laptops uncapable hardware. Thanks, Karl

Although I agree Qc that cleansliness assists the learner. Knowledge is knowledge even if there is chocalate wiped all over it. I took this dirty lesson he just gave and found it to be of some amusement. The Universal is long Dead. All we have are things that work within a context so why not start somewhere. Instead of bashing somones credibility based on how pretty their research looks why not base it off their actual research. By the way I did enjoy the talk about language and I agree with your point. P.S.I don't intend for this to be a bitter rebuttal only a healthy doughboyeque poke at your remark. :D
