Nice, I've been there a couple of a times... it's a cool place :( Anyways, I agree with what's all been said. Simplify it and don't have too much going on. I look forward to hearing more. :)

I would say divide the tracks because you could think of them as like "bookmarks" of the whole song, so on the first listen the listener could listen to it all the way through; but let's say the listener really likes a section; later on he could just go to the appropriate track. This way you could have the "best of both worlds." Anyways that's just my 2 cents.

I enjoyed this piece a lot. It kind of went on a little too long for my tastes but it was still good stuff. A suggestion would be to import everything into a DAW (if you have one) and maybe record you playing the guitar part and mix it and see how it sounds. Anyways, good job and I look forward to hearing more.

I found this thoroughly entertaining. Nice. The ending was kind of sudden though.

just out of cusriosity, did you sample the bass? and if so what did you use to sample it?

That piece was really cool. I agree with basically everything else that has been said already... I also think it would be cool to have a whole orchestra come in and deveop it from there. Anyways, great job, and good luck. -
Yeah, I totally agree... people who post orchestral stuff get lots of responses while people who post equally interesting stuff in avant garde/electronic get just some responses by the same people.

That was very cool; it was a great representation of picasso's work. There was some good contast too, with the non-cubism stuff. Good job. Anyways, what sound library did you use?
-
hey that was pretty cool... I liked the atmosphere of it. Nice and layed back. Just wondering, what did you use to make it? like what synth plugins etc. Anyways nice, I look forward to hearing more:thumbsup:

wow, that's impressive.... anyways one more question. Isn't platinum pro a VST plugin? So did you just sample it with kontakt and use kontakt as the RTAS plugin? Thanks in advance:)

1. Drum Set, 4 years, very good. Percussion, 4 years, same as drum set. Mallet percussion, 1 year, I'm ok. Guitar, 2 years, pretty sucky. Keyboards/piano, couple of months, very sucky. 2. What do you compose? I compose mostly everything. Classical music, progressive/experimental metal, electronica, ambient music, percussion ensemble stuff, and hopefully jazz and drum corps soon. 3. If you compose instrumentals what type(s) do you compose? mostly just orchestral but hopefully others soon. 4. What genre of music are your most interested in composing. Too hard to say. Probably prog metal. 5. What, if any, are your favorite musical instruments or combinations of instruments? guitar, guitar, drums, bass, + orchestra + ambience + massive synths + layered sounds. (All together). When it comes to classical music I would say the strings.

Yeah I agree with Tumababa. The timpanist could definately do it but I think that repetition would not only get boring for the timpani player but for the audience as well. My advice would be to a) have variation and not have the timpani go the whole time, and b) if you want to have the timpani go on for a long time maybe make the part a little less repetitive. But, that is just opinion. Good luck. By the way a score would help.

ah I see, that sucks. Well, I hope you upgrade soon; this piece would sound even better with some percussion.
-
yeah, no problem! I'm really looking forward to Europa:cool:

Hey Nightfly, this stuff is great. I love ambient music and you did a great job at it. I love the "desolate planet" theme, it is so perfect. I would definately buy this. I think that combining this with images would be cool but it wouldn't let the mind make make it's own images- which is why this piece is so great.

That was so great, recently I listened to "Obscene Obsession" and now this... wow. I loved the ending of this piece, what a great contrast to the hectic beginning. You definately have a great career ahead of you. Oh and by the way, keep the name. Personally I would remember "My loving life" a lot better than "Duet # 1" or something.

Nice, those were some brutal chords. Well done. -
This is the only movement I listened to I and I thought it had a great flowing quality to it; almost "riverlike" if that makes any sense. One thing you should consider is adding some percussion to the piece, maybe around the pizz. section or something. It would accent what is already there yet adding a different color to the overall sound. Also, when I listened to the piece it sounded very similar dynamic-wise, although I don't know what the score actually says because I am a finale user myself. Speaking of which, could you upload a pdf of the socre?

That was really cool. I don't think I have anything bad to say it. I thought "hmm it would be cool to have some nice latin percussion in here" and then right after that I heard congas. Awesome. I would love to hear this recorded. I take it you are a percussionist?

Nice! I'd love to hear a recording of this... The part at about 2:10 is nice and heavy :P The transition to the cleans (especially at the very end) needs some work, and I think the solo needs some work too. Also, during the solo the rythym guitars were really hard to hear, was that intentional? I'm a progger myself so I would add some odd time sigs and some synth and sample layers in there but that's just me:P Anyways, nice job.

A Minor Problem
Phoenix replied to chim07's topic in Incomplete Works; Writer's Block and Suggestions
Hehe, I like the pun in the title of the piece. :P Anyways, I agree with Franzman; you could build up that part to a semi climax and then re-introduce the first theme. Just an idea though. -
Wow, this really really good. The name is absolutely perfect. Well done, It's catchy, it's bluesy, and ity's ugly (in a good way!). Great Job.

C-Man Swing: Great melody on the vibes, make it longer and develop it more, throw in a few more instruments and it will be really great. Same goes for basically everything else. Achtung Viking, well midi dist. guitars don't do dist. guitars any justice whatsoever so if you were to record it it would sound a lot better. As far as the song, it kind of had a wierd structure and in the beginning it sounded like a cross between techno and 80's pop hehe. I'm sure if you develop that too it would sound better. Basically, I know it's all ben said, but just develop these ideas into full length pieces and you will have something really good. Good Job:thumbsup:

Africa isn't a country ;) Anyways, I think happy birthday or twinkle twinkle little star is probably the most famous melody, at least in the U.S. It's probably different in places like the middle east or Asia, etc.
