homerundude852 Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Hey everyone, Does anyone know a way to make a suspended cymbal roll that plays back realistically? I've been trying doing long crash cymbal notes with the three parallel lines above them, but that just sounds like really rapid crashes. Is there a way to make it sound like softer mallets? -Rod Quote
Tumababa Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Depends on what samples you're using in what sequencer. Quote
James H. Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Yeah, what program are you trying to do this in? Finale? Other? It's not exactly possible without a sample library, but I've managed to emulate the affect in simpe midi playback ( I'm talking Finale 2002, here) by having a hidden staff play the cymbal notes as fast as possible (like, 64th notes) at a really low dynamic, and then build up the dynamic. Sometimes helps to alternate between two different cymbal sounds. But this is best done with a sample library like GPO and many others. Quote
