northwoodbayou Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Well i got braces about two years ago....and of course i hated this because it ruined my tone and embrochure and stuff. I haven't played in a few weeks because its summer but i went to play today, and it was truly awful. I am extremely upset about this hearing recordings of myself from before i had braces. I know there is not much i can do about it, but anyone have any advice for when i get them off? P.S. please dont tell me to just pull them off :P i tried that already, my parents were...not so happy?, yes i am that desperate Quote
robinjessome Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Deal with it. I had braces in the early stages of my playing development. Not a big deal - it'll actually help in the long run, teaching you to play with minimal pressure. Also, you sounding 'truly awful' is probably more a cause of not having played in a few weeks. Practice. It'll take a while to adjust to the change in necessary pressure, but it'll come. When you get them off, it'll be a shock as well - again, diligent practice and perserverence will get you though. Quote
