piano_player18 Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 Alright..well don't overwork yourself. I'm leaving for 2-years in October so this is the last change before I come back in 2009. But like you said...there are other competitions.
Jordan Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 ah. well, then, I suppose you will have to wait until your shining return to hear my stuff... which is good, because really, I'll be better then :) also, if you would like to hear the kind of stuff I do, then go to jazz/ pop in a minute... I'm making some last minute changes and uploading this nice head. I like it. anyhow, have fun, wherever you are going to be for 2 years :)
piano_player18 Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 anyhow, have fun, wherever you are going to be for 2 years :) I am serving a mission for my church in Portland, Oregon.
Jordan Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 ah! good stuff. well, have fun! and check out some jazz :P (my journal is updated basically daily and it usually has some good jazz vids listed... check it out! (the rouge Clarinetist))
johannhowitzer Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Man! I missed out on a good one... only two days to the deadline, the initial post doesn't say it's closed, but I doubt I can write something coherent and complete on this scale in two days. Maybe, just maybe, I'll take a crack at it though, just for kicks... been meaning to write something for concert band.

PM me and let me know and I can work out something for you. I can't give you much for than a day...MAYBE up to a week.
Eselbeus Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 I submitted mine last night...I hope you got it...
James H. Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 I'm going to submit three things, if you don't mind. I'm going to need the extra time, I've been busy all week and couldn't get everything together. I should have everything in presentation condition for tomorrow.
yyoppp Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 I submitted mine last night...I hope you got it... I submitted mine last night too.
Mitchell Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 I totally forgot to last night, and I can't really right now. So later on when I'm home again, I promise to submit.

(in Finale format) :)

piano_player18 Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 EVERYONE...PLEASE TURN IN YOUR SCORES IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO!
Guest egemenkesikli Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I have a question: When are you going to announce the results (the first place)? I am really excited about the results...
piano_player18 Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 I have a question: When are you going to announce the results (the first place)?I am really excited about the results... Approx. 1-2 weeks. I hope to get everything reviewed this Monday. Then I will need to sit down and type out the critique sheets and e-mail them. Some people may actually get their scores back by postal mail because I have marked up their scores. But I am not going to be the only one reviewing.
piano_player18 Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 Just to let everyone know. I should be presenting all of the scores to my conductor this evening. I hope I can get everything printed out in time for practice...
Mitchell Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 I'm actually quite eager to know how your conductor reacts when he's given my abysmal score.
piano_player18 Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 I'm actually quite eager to know how your conductor reacts when he's given my abysmal score. I think the worst thing he would do is open his eyes wide and say, "ok...." But I don't think he'll do that...He's taking this quite serious.
Mitchell Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Haha, yeah, I s'pose. But it's a pretty messy score. And the most I can do in terms of fixing it up is... nothing at all really. Make some stuff better aligned and beam some notes better. Yeah.
piano_player18 Posted September 20, 2007 Author Posted September 20, 2007 I FORGOT AGAIN...to take those scores to my conductor... Baaaaaa. I did get his address! But I will probably just take him everything on Sunday since I have no time whatsoever. I've given myself too much to do I'm afraid. Overdoing it a bit. I'm at work right now...it's nice having internet...but I can't get anything done like printing or mailing stuff off...and I work from 6am-6pm.
piano_player18 Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 I want to let everyone know that I'm running a bit slow on this. However, I want to let you know what I'm going to do. 1) I'm going to mail or deliver the scores to my conductor. 2) I am going to pick and winner and he will pick one. 3) The winner will be given the conductor's address so that you can mail them directly to him. 4) I am working on writing some critiques right now. The critiques may be passed back out before the winner is announced. Let me know if you have any questions.
piano_player18 Posted October 6, 2007 Author Posted October 6, 2007 Congratulations... 1st place: Untitled - Mitchell W. (Mitchell) 2nd place: Introduction and Allegro - David F. McConaughey (flint-wwrr) 3rd place - Rising from the Oblivion - Seann Branchfield (Eselbeus) I will be sending all the scores to the conductor with your e-mails and addresses. That is as far as I can go because I am leaving out of town for two years. I can't guarantee a performance for the winners, but if he likes your piece I will encourage him strongly to contact you. IF YOU HAVE NOT SUBMITTED YOUR E-MAIL, ADDRESS, OR WHATEVER ELSE YOU WANT THE CONDUCTOR TO KNOW (in order to contact you) THEN YOU NEED TO DO THAT IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!
piano_player18 Posted October 8, 2007 Author Posted October 8, 2007 For those few who have not received their critique sheets via e-mail, I will be getting those too you within the next week! It would be helpful if you would notify me if you have not received a critique sheet. I don't think Michelle has...who else? Note to all...every score has been mailed to the conductor of my band with contact information on EVERY score. Also, I will be giving the top three winners an address to send scores and parts to within the next week. SO GET TO WORK! HAHAHA! No, you can mail them when you like, but I decided this particular conductor would probably rather just have the top three handy instead of having to ask for them. Good luck! I've begun work on starting the next competition...2 years to complete it so check out the planning forum! Any input would be nice...I hope everyone had fun and benefited because I sure did!!!
