Well I decided to start a thread. A special thread for all of us.

I invite you to share the worst musical (or otherwise) pick-up line you have ever heard, or experienced. Here is mine. This was said to a friend. I didn't know whether to laugh hysterically or to punch the person who said it.

"we should get together and play music. we could have a trio, a duet, or you could do a solo and i'll watch"

lmao.

/puts on best May West voice:

"Is that a piccolo in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?"

I believe a variation on that was used in Blackadder at one point;

"Am I pleased to see you or has someone just put a canoe in my pocket?"

Actually, the pick up line "I play guitar" seems to work fairly well. Never understood what the fascination with girls and playing guitar is though. Something special about musicians I guess. Ever try picking up someone with the line "Yeah, I'm a composer............but I don't get paid to do it" Now that one doesn't go over so well :D

I would think girls would be tired of boys who play guitar by now. Every boy who boasts about playing the guitar to in order to impress people actually sucks at it, with only rare exceptions. The true masters usually keep quiet.

How about "I play the glockenspiel. I made All-States once." ?

You're right, boys who boast about playing guitar do suck. But to girls, being able to play a few Green Day songs on the guitar is all you need to be "good". I personally have never tried a pick up line like that, but if I ever would, it might actually work considering what I've seen. I would like to see you try that Glockenspiel line actually lol. True talent isn't appreciated by most women until you're in your 20's-30's and making money from it.

Now for girls, saying "Yeah, I play guitar" works great: guys seem to love it.

No, not when they discover they've been bested. :huh:

Then they're only jealous, and want lessons. For two good reasons.

"I can play the radio!"

This statement is made by people who either cannot play an instrument or play so poorly that they are too embarrased to admit that they do. When they say this, I feel like punching them in the face.:wub:

Yeah, I don't get the one about performers and composers. Girls like people who can play songs for them better than people who write songs for them, for some reason... it's really depressing. Every composer should be able to play, of course, but... it's not like I focus my time on learning pop songs on the piano...

The best pick up-line is "I play drums", the worst is "i play guitar". There are ten million guitar players in the world, there will never be a shortage of guitar players (just a shortage of good ones :-p). people will really notice when you play drums.
