"...most all of the relevant theses ..."

"Theses" is the plural form of "thesis", which is usually the required document for attaining a PhD in most universities.

Unless that's not to what you were referring?

"...membership and influence in a social group is predominately..."

That was an incomplete excerpt you pulled. You're missing the object of the adverbial phrase.

What you quoted was equivalent (grammatically, but with words replaced) to saying:

"...melody and harmony in music is often..."

I wasn't trying to "sound smart", it's just how I write.

Obviously this argument is going nowhere, so please let's just stop.

And stop double posting. I'm not saying that because it bothers me, I'm saying that because some people on this board think that if you are double posting, you are just trying to raise your post count. At least that was the case while ago. But yeah, that's just some friendly advice.

I sometimes employ the technique of fluttertongue.

Lol. Ok.

Hm. What do you mean? I only see my posts showing up once.

Oh. I see.

So, ok, the first time was responding to two different people... should that have just been one post?

And the second time was an unintentional "double post". Won't do that again.

(I guess there was one where I said my post didn't go through, twice... but I didn't think it actually did go through. It didn't show up. But I switched browsers again, and that shouldn't be an issue.)

"ya, I play a clarinet. hey, where are you going? I know how to tongue, blow, finger..."

"oh, I'm just practicing my fingering. want to give me a hand?"

the next one is one I actually heard in real life :

"yea, I'm involved with the music program. she played the flute, didn't she? or something?"

Ok, this forum is buggy.

Or something.

Because posts just seem to disappear. I've lost two replies here already.

The first one was a real reply. The 2nd was a reply, stating that the first reply failed.

And now this one? that both 1 and 2 failed.

Hmm I wonder why, maybe the mysterious fairy ate them or maybe a moderator deleted them, up to you to decided what happened.

stupid pickup line

I know how to use a vibrator;)

I think we need another one

I would think girls would be tired of boys who play guitar by now. Every boy who boasts about playing the guitar to in order to impress people actually sucks at it, with only rare exceptions. The true masters usually keep quiet.

How about "I play the glockenspiel. I made All-States once." ?

that's so true.. when will girls get tired of it and go back to saxophone?

I told girls before that I play saxophone, they just smiled,, "that's nice" the only person who said anything cool about it was the bag checkout lady at the airport.. lol =P

-Smartyy!

EDIT: also, i've been told that this was form a movie, but i've never seen it..

I was at marching band and this guy, Tim, was trying to 'mute' the flut by sticking his finger in this girl's flute and our drum major, Will, starting yelling at him "TIM! Stop fingering the Flutes!"

lol =P

nice one :)

by the way, you are all right. guitars suck. so do the people that play them for "cred". I hate the people who show off with them.

to really impress a girl with any sort of instrument (except the guitar) I think that it has to be lame, and you have to be bloody amazing at it. for example.first impressions of girls when I say " I play the clarinet" = not so hot. once they hear me play some jazz with it, though, they suddenly think I'm amazing (which is a lot better than I think of my own ability) and then they want to come to wherever I play and such like that. then only reason is because I can play very, very fast on certain scales on certain songs, and for those who don't know, playing like greased lightning is a surefire way to get someone who doesn't know about music as a groupie. I have a buddy (yes, a guy) who plays the sax, but he also plays the flute, because of the similarity in the fingering, and he can play very fast, and it sounds good (because he uses that jazzy type of overblowing that always makes jazz flute kick donkey) and the girls love it. I have to say, he is seriously making me consider taking flute as a secondary instrument (which we have to do) in grade 12.

you can do all of the above, or just play the piano. chicks dig that ;)

You don't even have to be good at the piano and it'll work. Just learn [insert name of any pop song with piano in it] and they'll be all over you.

yes and no... you know, I've found that smooth jazz, you know, the coffee shop, slow, romantic type stuff, works soooo much better. once you get good enough to play stuff like that? then you discover that not only rock stars have groupies :)

What's the difference between an orchestra and a bull?

A bull has horns at the front and an a**hole at the back.

Gone Chopin. Bach in a minuet!! :D

What is the range of a trumpet?

As far as you can kick it.

The glissando is a technique adopted by string players to overcome difficult runs.

If you think art music as a whole lacks humour, then you haven't listened to enough!!

Guitars are great when used well. Showing off? Those people should be banned from art entirely.

But the last part of your post there sort of contradicts the first.:)

Yeah, they are.

Roughly 1-2% of the original 9/10ths.

That's what? 1 in every 200 girls? Even that might be too high.

But I've known 8 or 9 of them, and dated at least 3. They do exist.

Y'know what the weirdest part was?... the whole "Wanna come over so I can play piano for you?" thing actually worked.

(Although, I do have to give Chopin and Rachmanninov some of the credit...)

I'm a 14 year old female and have the solution to all of your problems with finding fantastic females who realise that you do actually need time to compose but don't want someone who has a horridly limited vocabulary!

DATE HOMESCHOOLERS! Yes, we actually are too cool for school! Seriously though, around 9 out of 10 females are really artistic, free thinking, and creative. Well, in New Zealand, anyway!:)
