Maximilian Caldwell Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 On several forums, I've also seen a "Top Ten Posters" list to supplement the Staff List. Possible? If so, anytime soon? :whistling: Quote
Saiming Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Is that really necessary? That list could lead to more spam in the forums, since more want to be in the top 10. Not such a strong argument, since it comes from me the one who spammed quite a lot, but I have stopped :whistling: Quote
Mark Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 You can do that by searching the member list, sort by post count in descending order. Or do you mean you want a link to it so you can view it without going through all that crap? Quote
Maximilian Caldwell Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 I was thinking just a little perk to the people most active on YC. I mean, hey. I've made fewer than 100 posts in actual music forums. Probably fewer than 50. But I still am going on 2000 posts (unlike Mark, who has far exceeded me). Quote
Mark Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I've just realised that my posting rate is massively bigger than anyone else's I've seen. *wanders off bemusedly* Quote
Daniel Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 We had a top posters page, but I think Mike got rid of it because it only encourages pointless spammy posting. Quote
Maximilian Caldwell Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 Speaking of which, where is Mike? Quote
Maximilian Caldwell Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 Any idea when he's coming back? Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 We also used to have a top poster of the day list ;) I've heard of forums where the post count is hidden and I think I like that idea better than having a list to flaunt spammers. That way, people don't needlessly post to rack up their count  Quote
Maximilian Caldwell Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 I suppose that makes sense on some level, although I think Nico's record is still standing. 4500 or something? Quote
Daniel Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 By the way Sapphire, I've noticed your posts are becoming rather spammy again. I can easily set you down to 500 again. Quote
Maximilian Caldwell Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 I'm not going to dignify that abuse of power with a response. Quote
Daniel Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 It might be an abuse of power if there were no reason for doing it, or if what you lost were something of any value. Quote
CaltechViolist Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I'm not going to dignify that abuse of power with a response. Honestly, how many of your posts were original thoughts - which is to say, not ripped off from either Nico, JohnGalt, Hands, or Oscar Wilde? I'm guessing I can count them on my hands? While wearing mittens? I'd personally be inclined to make sure you never even hit triple digits, but that's just me. Quote
oboehazzard Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Caltech.....!!!! Is my heerrrooooooo, lalala. I want to write a ballad for you. Anyways, it was a fun addition but I think it got too competitive, even if it was an unspoken competition. Quote
Mike Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 There is already a round-about way to view the top ten posters. Now I don't want to divulge it for the reasons touched upon in this thread. I didn't remove the link, by the way, it just so happens vBulletin doesn't come with that by default, unlike IPB. And yes, user post count alterations can easily be arranged if necessary. Quote
