Tumababa Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Here's an idea that I stole from someone else's thread.... ...tag all the mp3s the site has and play them all on a podcast. It wouldn't work with midi files as the quality would be all over the map. Not really something you'd want to listen to. But mp3's? Just an idea. Feel free to blow it out of the water. Quote
Mark Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Interesting. If it were perhaps more than just music then I would definitely listen, but for the moment I've heard pretty much every piece of music on this site  Quote
bob_the_sane Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I've heard pretty much every piece of music on this site  I'm absolutely positive that isn't true.:( I like the idea, because it might introduce someones music to someone who hadn't listened to it before, or had listened to their early stuff, thought it was rubbish, but now their new stuff is much better. It'd be a big job getting all the music onto a podcast though, maybe a selection nominated by users? Quote
tenor10 Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I still think it would be awesome if we did that. Great Idea Quote
Tumababa Posted August 22, 2007 Author Posted August 22, 2007 Let's see what the powers that be say. Quote
Maximilian Caldwell Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I'll let you know that making a podcast is a very time-consuming and difficult task. Making a podcast that people will actually listen to...that's a whole other issue. I can guarantee you Mike and Chopin aren't going to take the time to do that themselves. Quote
Mike Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 This is a nice concept, except the site doesn't currently accept MP3 uploads (it will do once we roll out the upcoming music management system). At present, some kind of link harvester to download the content from external sites would have to be used, which isn't ideal. But perhaps this was meant as an idea to keep in mind for the future. I can guarantee you Mike and Chopin aren't going to take the time to do that themselves. I know, and aren't we just lazy for it? Me, what with already devoting considerable hours attending to other site matters, chopin, what with admittedly not dropping in as much but also happening to work full-time and still being in the process of obtaining a master's degree. Oh, and also paying the monthly bill to keep the place in existence which, you know, helps. Quote
James H. Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Oh, and also paying the monthly bill to keep the place in existence which, you know, helps. :) That reminds me, what are the monthly expenses of the site? Are any made up for? And what is a Podcast? I've looked at several definations and I really don't understand. Quote
Mike Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 The site costs about $90 a month to run (excluding additional expenses such as software licences), though we are on the brink of requiring an upgrade due to frequently exceeding our allocated resources. It is my understanding that we rarely if ever manage to break even with regards to the amount earned through advertising revenue. A podcast is basically an RSS feed for audio files. New audio is downloaded to the subscriber's computer automatically as and when it becomes available. Aside from that, a podcast can be otherwise termed a "digital audio file downloaded from the internet". :P Quote
oboeducky Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 It would be awesome if there were interviews with our top staff and members. Like about their music, life.... stuff. Quote

oboeducky Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I know about those, I just thought it would be cool to hear interviews with music and other stuff in it. Quote
