bridgesandballoons Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 One and eight. And nine, not so much because I think it's the best, but I really take an inexplicable liking to composers' last symphonies. Quote
jawoodruff Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I had heard bits and pieces of his incomplete 10th symphony. If anyone has heard this and knows of a good reconstruction of it... id be very interested in listening. Quote
Sherief Abraham Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I like his 5th, one movement out of the 6th, entire 7th and the awesome powers of his 9th. Quote
bawb Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I find myself listening to the 3th most often, the 5th and 9th are exciting too but not extremely interesting to me. And I just decided to listen to 4th again : ), haven't heard it in ages. Quote
A. Tell Reial Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 All of them If all of them are your favorite you win at life. Thus I fail at life. Quote
Mr Lex. Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I have to say the 9th. I like the 4th movement (as cliche as that is)....but I LOVE the 3rd movement, and the opening of the 1st, they are just so...AWESOME! :) Quote
Ravels Radical Rivalry Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I second the 4th - it has the best orchestration by far. I also like the third, especially the stravinskyesque moments in the development. Hmmmm, if Beethoven was before Stravinsky then wouldn't the Stravinsky actually be Beethoveneque rather then the Beethoven being more Stravinskyesque? Anyway, my favorite Beethoven Symphony is either the 5th or the 9th. It is a tie. There are amazing things about both. Quote

I'm a huge fan of the 7th and 8th. The 7th is rockin' and the 8th is so concise and tight, whatever that means to anyone else. Quote
Guest JmAY Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I'd have to say either the 1st or the 7th. I love how the 1st begins on a C7 chord resolving on F-Major; Beethoven's experimentation and way of saying, "listen folks, I'm about to switch the game up." Quote

No. Stravinsky was so awesome that Beethoven built a time machine to see Stravinsky's works in the future then totally plagiarize him. Quote
Black Orpheus Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 :hmmm: Well, 9 is my favorite to hear in person. Quote
ParanoidFreak Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Like 83.6 % of the posters in this thread, I'd also name a few rather than one. 3rd and 4th are the ones that come most often to mind. Quote
bkho Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I have to go with the 7th. The second movement is just amazing. Quote
