DarkAsDayProductions Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 My name is Nathan and I am a young filmmaker who is currently making films for fun. My college major is currently undecided but I am strongly considering changing it to film. As you can see I'm new here and I hope to find a talented composer here that would be interested in working for only credit. I think that it would be great for the young composers to work with other people to create one solid piece of art. I'm not looking for an immediate composer but I'm just kind of seeing what's out there. I have a few projects in the wroks but nothing that is in immediate need of a soundtrack. The soonest i may need a composer is maybe a month....maybe. I cant really say exactly what I want style-wise but for one of my serious projects that I'm working on right now I KNOW I want a Philip Glass style score. For some of my more comedic projects I'm more open to styles but I'm a big Danny Elfman fan. Let me know if this sounds like something you would be interested in and maybe include links to some of your work. I look forward the responses and i think that this is a great opportunity for both parties to grow together in their respective fields. Nathan Dark As Day Productions Quote
oboeducky Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I could definitely help you out there I already have done a score for a shorter feature length film that a club in the UK did. As for a philip glass style score, I have some great ideas for that (and Danny Elfman is one of my favorite composers too). As for my work, I can link to a couple of my more "English" works, as that's all I have posted here. I would be glad to make a couple sketches of music in the style of philip glass if you are interested. This looks quite fun. Thanks for offering the opportunity. DarkAsDayProductions Posted September 12, 2007 Author Posted September 12, 2007 I would love to hear some of your stuff. Also I forgot to include a youtube link in my original post so you can see some of my past works. I have grown since then (and continue to grow) but it should give you an idea of what my style is like though in the future I plan on doing more serious films in addition to the comedic ones of the past. The only serious one currently on youtube is my PSA (Move). YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. -Nathan Quote
bob_the_sane Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Ooops, you did say that you wanted to hear some of my stuff in the intro thread, sorry.:P Here we go: Troubled Skies - eSnips, share anything This is a piece I wrote in the style of Martin O'Donnell's Halo music, very atmospheric, but I'm not sure it is what you want... Macbeth - eSnips, share anything This is a piece I wrote for the beginning of my sisters performance of Macbeth, you know the very first scene with the witches? (Make sure to listen to the end, there is a gap for the lines...) Piano Idea - eSnips, share anything This is a short piano idea that I could develop, it is in a more modern style, maybe a bit more what you want, I will slow it down, and make it a little more "Glassy".:P I would love to work with you, we can could some experience together... DarkAsDayProductions Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 Thank you all for showing these samples. I have to say that I am VERY impressed with all of your work. In the end the decision will not come down to who is better but who's style can better suit my style. I'll take a bit of time and relisten to stuff before i make a decision. In the mean time I am still open to anymore submitions from anyone. HAve a great day! -Dark As Day Productions Quote
DarkAsDayProductions Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 Thank you again for all of the interest. I enjoyed hearing everyone's amazing work. I have come to a decision and that does not mean that I didnt like the others. I just believe my choice best fits the style I need. I have chosen flaisgiorgos who contacted me through private message. This place is great and I will definately be popping in here from time to time. Thanks again, Nathan C.
