nikolas Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Hello, hello! It's this time of the month again, where I notify all you people interested in competing, for fun, for experience, for some amazing prizes (yes, there are 2 prizes this time), or to enter the hall of fame! This time, the theme is something that might interest you: Sadness. The catch: The track MUST include piano in! No matter if the piano is soloed, or not, no matter if it's just 1 note, or an amazing soft ballade. Sponsors: Wallander Instruments was funded to develop, market and sell the WIVI synthesizer, a Virtual Instrument that emulates acoustic instruments using traditional Additive Synthesis technology and advanced modelling of instrument behavior. Characteristic for WIVI is that the instruments are generated from recordings and measurements of real acoustic instruments. The goals with WIVI are to create a highly efficient synthesizer with low computer footprints and loading time, realistic timbre changes, high customizability, intact phrasing intependently of MIDI input data and a user-friendly interface. The software is constantly under development, and functionality is added continuously. Wallander Instruments are most generous and are offering to the 1st winner the full set of their instruments, costing 617$. The full set includes: French Horns 1-4: No mute, stopped, straight mute, dynamic stop (wah-wah). Trumpets 1-3 in Bb: No mute, straight mute, cup mute, bucket mute, solotone mute, harmon mute/no stem, harmon mute/stem inserted (wah-wah), harmon mute/stem extended (wah-wah), plunger mute (wah-wah). rolifer Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I have already started on the winner, so there really is no need for anyone else to enter, but I guess if you do it will only make mine sound better. So everyone compose an entry and enter this so I can win big. Does that sound a little conceited? Or am I that good? The last competition had some unbelievably great entries in it and the more entries there are, the better the winner will feel. Nikolas you can count on me. I'm about 6 hours into mine already, (the piece is just over 4 minutes long) Hopefully I haven't scared everybody away. now that they all know I am entering. I do have a wierd sense of humor..... Hell .... I'm just weird...(I just finished 22 pages of Mathematical equations, so cut me some slack....) Great competition and prize. Ron Quote
nikolas Posted September 19, 2007 Author Posted September 19, 2007 Looking forward to listening to your entry Ron! Just keep in mind that you have almost a month ahead. If by any chance you would like to change something in your entry, if you have submited it, you won't be able. Maybe a good "strategy" would be to hang on to your entry, and hand it over last week or something. Although this would severely make me worry about the number of entries... But it would be better of everyone... :) Either way, I won't say good luck, cause you don't need it obviously  Quote
rolifer Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Hey nikolas, I am still working on this piece and do not see it as being completed until we are much closer to the deadline. I am up to 8 hours now and easily see another 5+ hours until I can let it sit for a bit. I am not one who likes to jump the gun just to try to get something completed. Last competition I got it to you 2 days before the deadline. I will try to be a little quicker so you don't get swamped by the entries. Thanks for all the help in the other place with sib5 etc. They are still giving me conflicting answers, but I think I will follow your original advice and just take it slow. Thanks again Ron Quote
