katchum Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 I've been thinking and thinking about this concept: When you have a series/motif of notes following each other with a certain rhythm and melody. And then you get another series of notes with the same rhythm and melody but in a different chord/tonality. I was wondering how it was called again, this compositional technique. I completely forgot that word. Quote
Tumababa Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Uhm... I think what you're talking about actually IS a sequence. The figure repeats, usually rising or falling, through a series of chords right? Quote
katchum Posted October 13, 2007 Author Posted October 13, 2007 My god! You're right! What a long time ago. It actually is a sequence. I thought the word was something more fancy, but it was that simple. Quote
spherenine Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Perhaps the more advanced name was scalar transposition. Quote
