Derek Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Has anyone here written any music for children (i.e. very little experience...not talking about prodigies here) to perform? (any instrument) Quote
Leo R. Van Asten Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I have written a number of pieces of different levels for my piano students. Some very easy and some not so easy. Mainly solo piano but one for piano-4 hands and one for piano-6 hands. (That was for a family that took lessons from me.) Quote
Will Kirk Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I've written a few pieces that are rather easy, so I guess they'd qualify :P Quote
Guest QcCowboy Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 a single piano 4-hands piece. my old piano teacher still uses it with her students. I was considering writing some 2nd-4th year pieces. It's actually very difficult to write "easy" music! At least, I find it difficult. Making it playable by a piano student while still making it musically interesting. A fun challenge. Quote
Charlie Gregson Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 That's true. There's so much stuff to consider. For example, I remember as a student I didn't like piano music where my hands jump around a lot (I still don't :whistling:) because I couldn't see the score at the same time. I guess a key element is also to make it fun to play (because it encourages practice and discourages ADD), and if possible, make it be able to be played very quickly, because that makes it more fun.
