hi all of u composers.

---------------------------------------------

hi everybuddy. i m naveen anand. well, contrary to me joining this composers forum, i m not from musical field. i know playing no instrument. i hvnt taken any music classes...

actully, i m a 3d animator. i hv a nice sense for mujik too. i do mixing music on softwares... i play my table before thinking of mixing any two music files...

so, the reason for why i needed to join this community is that i hv decided to compose a music for my short animation film. it's got lyrics as well. so i thought here i can get vry usefull guidence from all u people as to how proceed....

so far i have decided the tempo of my composition by singing the lyrics in various tempo... i hv decided it 225bpm. now wat shud be the next right move? i m now deciding the occurance and the duration of the pauses while singing... as a single pause is actually a blank note.. M I GOING THE RIGHT WAY? PLZ HELP.

If you don't play and instrument and don't know any musical theory, the only advice I can give you is to find a tutor in your area and start working.

I guess if you don't play an instrument you're just plunking down notes into your sequencer? Maybe try some melodies and see what you come up with.

You also sound like you're hesitant because you're worried about writing something "wrong". Remember that with music there really is nothing you can do that is wrong(I'm talking big picture here). Of course if you're trying to write in a particular style there will be things that could be considered wrong(Parallel fifths in baroque music come to mind) but as long as you're writing YOUR ideas you should relax and let it be.

Does that help?

flint : thnks for ur suggestion sir. i have my animation students who know playing keyboard, some are singers... so i cn get help from them abt music. what do i need to know first? is watever i hav done is wrong so far? i rily dont have time to take classes due to my job... can composing softwares help me in some way?

tuma : thanks sir for ur suggestions. well, i m not at all hesitant in writing "wrong". may be my words were not appropriate above. but i jst meant to ask is that is whtever m doing needed to go same way? or m i in wrong direction?

Okay, first of all, please learn to write properly because it's extremely annoying to have to read whatever terribly-bastardized dialect of the language you're trying to use.

Second, why don't you just get one of those other friends who are more musically inclined to score the film for you? Or get someone from this site to do it, I know there'd be lots of people eager to help you out. I just don't see the point in doing it yourself if you don't have the expertise or the time to work on it - you'd probably get a better product from someone else too, since their main focus would be the music.

Just a thought, good luck with your project either way! :)
