Musicwhizz Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Hi I am working on a piece for piano and Bb cornet. It is a theme and variations piece. Does anybody have any ideas how to write a piano part in the style of the romantic period please??? Any help would be appreciated :) Thanks Adam Quote
Gavin Gorrick Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Listen to the Boheme concerto, and study other pieces from that area. Quote
Gardener Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Study Schumann! His piano accompaniments to instrumental solo pieces and songs are very pianistic, elaborate, an epitome of romanticism, and simply great. Brahms should also be studied. Quote

M_is_D Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 It would probably be illegal. Sheet Music Plus - World's Largest Selection of Sheet Music, Scores, Songbooks, and Guitar Tabs has all of them though. Quote
Morivou Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Brahms... study Brahms... !! Romantic piano is SOOO yummy. lol. But, seriously, Brahms is free most of the time. And, it's perfectly legal to download his public domain stuff. I would suggest his intermezzo for solo piano, it's very good and shows off the elegance and heaviness of his piano part writing. Also, some of his vocal pieces sound very nice for piano accompaniment. Quote
