Which do you believe is the best choice for a competition?

  1. 1. Which do you believe is the best choice for a competition?

    • A Chamber Piece; consisting of a trio of instruments
      5
    • Small Chamber Concerto (such as a String Ensemble with Solo Piano or Solo Violin/cello).
      6
    • A Solo Modonic Piece. Maybe, what we might do is give theme or a mood and have you write to that.
      5
    • A Theme and Variations for any ensemble you wish with no larger than a 6 staff orchestra.

    • A Sonata form or Rondo Piece.

I believe you will have more luck searching for ''monodic'' ...

hey i havent posted on these forums in a LONG time lol. um, i cant really remember which one i voted for, but i think it would be fun to do a trio thing or a chamber concerto. itll be cool to do w/e gets voted on though :)

Frick. I hate variations. I'd ruther done tat concerto. =[

Oh well, I'll be pressed to come up with something new and ... hmm... will variations be exciting? :huh:

I'll have a hard time working with 6 staves... can't even write for orchestra and piano or harp or marimba... :closedeyes:

Maybe this will change my ways. :w00t:

OR..... hmmm.... small brass choir. :shifty:

So can we start? XD

Do we compose our own theme or do we all have to use a predetermined theme? If the latter, can we change the theme? Alter the rhythm or meter... make it major/minor/another mode...?

No LARGER than a 6 staff orchestra. You may have it be smaller. And, I will have a thread with the details up by 12:00 Jan. 1. Sign ups will begin then too.
