bob stole my cookie Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 On the topic of entertaining slipups, check this one out. I've never had this happen before... Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Actually.... it does that whenever I first open the page (before logging in) when I use Opera. Any idea why? Quote
Mike Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Can't reproduce that one myself. The only quirk I notice when viewing the front page in Opera is the tabs being behind the main page content, but that is such a small issue it really isn't worth fixing. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Yeah, I noticed that too and asked a question pretaining to that in another thread a minute ago... little alignment issues. Ah well, must be an issue with the computer. Quote
Anders Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 No, it was an issue with I. Quote
Maximilian Caldwell Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 No, it was an issue with I. I hate people that try to sound pretentious by overusing subjects. "With" is a preposition. Prepositions take objects. "Me" should be the object of your preposition. Quote
Daniel Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Several points to make: 1)I love your childishly scrawled "WTF", Marius. :P 2)I love your British spelling of humour. 3)We should use this thread from now on to post weird screw-ups with YC. and 4)I agree with Sapphire, as much as it pains me to say it. :( Quote
James H. Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I second Daniel's opinions, observations, and proposals. But Marius isn't the only non-British here who spells things Britishly, I do too. I can solely thank the Harry Potter Series and Hitchhiker's guide for that. Haha, my browser didn't red-underline Britishly, I didn't think it was a real word, but I guess it is. Quote
James H. Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Hmm... I didn't think this would end up being a double post... but..... back on subject... err.. what's this all about? Error.bmp - Box.net Quote
James H. Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 *triple post* Yayy! Not really. Anyways... *points to post above*... image wasn't showing up before... eSnips SUCKS for images... and Box.net doesn't let me hotlink... so that's evil. I need to find a new image host. I wish one site could just do them all. :iffy: About the post above... the red text wasn't from a search or anything (sometimes they highlight search terms) ... this was completely random and happened when the Shoutbox crashed for me. I'm on Firebox with XP, so you know. Anyways... ran into something else that bothered me today. Tried to show somebody in the Shoutbox how to video embed in posts... and it didn't work. [noparse] Caption Here[/noparse]Like above... tried to combine with a [noparse] and it just showed a Youtube link instead of noparsing. A bug, or intended? I like for [noparse] to display the text inbetween without any change at all. *edit* I see the [noparse] works here in posts, just is buggy in the shoutbox. Try it. Quote
Mike Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 The image above signifies that the forum encountered a database error while the shoutbox was refreshing. It happens from time to time, especially if you have it open for a long time (during which a single random issue will cause everything to stop working on your end), and can be quite easily overcome by refreshing the page. Use of the tag in the shoutbox is restricted, with any instance being reduced to a simple link. This occurs before the shoutbox gets a chance to parse BB code, so ultimately you end up with a "non-parsed" plaintext link. Quote
James H. Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 youngcomposers - Yahoo! Search Results First result: "Listen to the original MIDI music compositions of young composers." Umm... a little dated, don't you think? Second result: Who Posted? - Young Composers Music Forum Gee, how do you get to THAT page? I've never seen that before ANYWHERE. Quote
Mark Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Ah, that's same as our old crappy description on google - which I believe was changed a while ago. Damn yahoo! Quote
Mike Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I'm not sure where Yahoo is getting that description from. It's certainly not imposed by any element of the current site. I'll speak to chopin about it. Who Posted shows you who posted in a thread. Go to the forum view and click a thread's reply count to view it. Quote
chopin Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Since we are located in Yahoo's paid directory, Yahoo is getting this description from that. I don't think there is anything we can do about this. Quote
Mike Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I'm guessing that was the result of some experimentation on chopin's part. :P Quote
Daniel Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 That's leave-YC quality of bad advert placement. Quote
Flint Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Ah, that's same as our old crappy description on google - which I believe was changed a while ago.Damn yahoo! Wait, people actually use search engines other than Google?*boggle* Quote
