Majesty Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Here is an interview by one of my former teachers. I thought this would be an interesting share. Although we respected each other we definitely disagreed on a number of issues :P Nick Tolle Interview Quote
Kamen Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I just wanted to drop a message here and say that it was an interesting interview to read. Several sentences surprised me... I didn't know that Schoenberg haven't played an instrument? Is this true? :) Quote
Gardener Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 He played some cello, but only at home with his friends, at a very basic amateur level. He might have dabbled with a few other instruments (viola, maybe some piano), but he was never a professional instrumentalist. Quote
ThePianoMan121 Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I found that interview fascinating. Thanks for posting the link. Quote
Majesty Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 You're welcome, ThePianoMan121. This particular composer always had interesting things to say. Either one on one or in a class setting these types of discussion were frequent, and I do miss them. I thought his comments on students composing "retro-Brahms" music, what he also considerd the "Golden age" of composition, and his statement about many composers not being interested in teaching but just doing their own thing thought provoking in a way (provoking with pros and cons). I think I'll have another read of the article. Quote
